It is a well known fact that some people are nocturnal by nature and I just so happen to be one of THOSE people. Of course I work on the night shift as an RN and I wouldn't have it any other way. Day shift gives me mental hives (yes, it's a real diagnosis...in my mind lol). I have always been more productive at night than I am in the day time and my husband looks at me sideways when I am in full house cleaning mode at midnight. I just came back from getting groceries and I got to the store at 2300. I put my wireless earbuds in my ears, turned on my tunes and danced my way through the aisles. I know some of the workers (and customers) were staring at me but it's all good! Anyone else full of energy after the sun goes down?

Those poor workers and customers probably thought you were high on drugs.
I can play candycrush a lot better at night as opposed to playing during the day, so I would naturally think that nights are for me.

I HATED clinicals during nursing school because I am NOT a day person. I maintain my sleep schedule even on my days off. I sleep better during the day (blackout curtains help that a lot, as does the white noise machine). And it isn't uncommon for me to bake at 2am. My husband is currently a night shifter and he is going to days and couldn't be happier! It takes all types!
I worked almost 7 years of nightshift as a RN. I really miss it. I miss going to bed when everyone is off to work. I also miss food shopping at Giant overnight and have the store to myself.
As a nurse practitioner I work days shift hours and after 2 years of it I still have a hard time. I hate going to bed before 1am and I can't stand getting up at 6am to do newborn rounds before heading into the office...LOL Its still a work in progress. I function better at night and I'm grumpy before 11am at work lol.
I'm also a Leo but I have always been a natural night owl since I was child. In the summers I use stay up all night and go to bed when my parents went to work...hehe ...

My teenager is definitely my child.... summers and weekends he stays up all night and sleeps all day. At least he doesn't get flak from me over it -- I totally understand!!!!
Sound of birdies tweeting? Time to get off the internet and go to bed before my wife wakes up and catches me. Of course this "owl" is married to a "lark".
When the 24 hour SuperWalMart came to town, it was totally the sign I had been waiting for. There is a need to shop at 0200. And not just groceries. Sometimes you need sand paper, 1 inch screws or super glue to continue working on the project.
Now that I work 9am to 9:30pm I am constantly writing my admit time as 2130 rather than 0930. Without windows in the PACU it looks the same to me.
What time is the Night Owls Unite meeting?
I was a wreck when I would have to be at work at 0630. Actually, I had to be there before 0630 because there were patients standing outside the department waiting for me (Outpatient Oncology). I was nauseated, I ached from head to toe, and I was clumsy. I would walk into walls, trip over equipment. Fortunately, my co-workers knew me well, because I could have appeared to be impaired.
Luckily, I had a few co-workers who would switch shifts with me, so I didn't do many of those ungodly early shifts.
I precept on nights and I LOVE it. I have accepted a position for L&D night shift and I am so looking forward to it. I do not want to work days. The idea of having to be up at 5am to get to work by 7am annoys me. I hated day clinicals. I enjoy the feeling of getting to sleep in. Night Owls UNITE..
Congrats on your job! I wondered what you decided on. Sorry you got so much crap in one of your recent posts. It's just what happens sometimes I guess.

That's how you end up with blisters from neck to heels! Six hours sleeping face down on the beach - never again!
