At the beginning of my PNP program I worked full time. When I got to clinicals I found a weekend nights position and that was huge help whn I had class and clinicals during the week. My first clinical site was in a peds er and they let me do 12 hour nights and it allowed me know knock out those clinical hours quickly.

Do you have inpatient pediatric experience as a RN? In my area one of the children's hospitals does not yet require peds/acute care certification but they look at your nursing background and your NP experience. For example, I have a friend that works at Boston Children's in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and her degree was peds primary care and she got the job because she has years of experience in a PICU setting. The other Children's Hospital near requires peds-acute care certification in certain inpatient areas (PICU, ED, CCU,etc) But is still okay with peds primary care for inpatient medical floors (Nephrology, endocrine, pulmonary, etc). I think it depends what state your in and what type of position. But still not a bad idea to consider a peds acute care post-masters program in the future.

No you are not missing anything...I emailed them this morning. I was a stalker...lol I'm just so impatient. I applied back in October...I just can't wait anymore. I also have anxiety mixed with excitement... I will be so disappointed if I don't get in.. USA is my first choice.....Good luck to us all.

I'm a PNP and I had no problems finding a job. I have a strong Peds background and I knew becoming a Pnp was right for me. I had no interest in adults and knew Fnp wasn't the way to go for me. However there will always be more Fnp job postings because there are a wide range of job opportunities be uses they cover the whole life span,etc. I have had FNP preceptors at my Peds clinical and I work with one in my current job. They didn't have an issue with getting pediatric positions. You figure out what your career goals are. With FNP you can work with all ages and are not limited. I only can do neonatal to 21. If see yourself working with kids and then later wanting to work adults in the future, you will have that option as a Fnp.

I called today they said 8 weeks after the deadline... So the 4/15 they should be mailed out... Fingers crossed its then b/c I've heard of past classes hearing back in late May

I applied to south Alabama for this fall. I'm already a NP I'm going for post-masters in a new specialty and DNP. From understanding you don't have to repeat the Advanced 3 Ps. If you already took them got a satisfactory grade.

I applied for MSN-DNP adding new specialty. I'm already a primary pediatric nurse practitioner. I am applying for pediatric acute care. I heard the same thing about the decision letters. Good luck everyone!

I applied for post masters pediatric acute care/DNP for fall 2016... my deadline was 2/15/16. i got email saying they were reviewing apps in mid-march and making a decision by the end of march and sending decisions out early in April.... I'm so inpatient...lol

I'm leaving my my first NP job in less than 2 weeks and in my contract I have to purchase tail coverage upon leaving. my employer pays 50%. It's around 6,000 and I have to pay 3,000. I didn't like this part of my contract when I first joined the practice but I didn't think I would be leaving after almost 2 years.

I just took a new position and per my contract gave 60 days notice. I think that's common but I have heard of some practitioners giving 90-120 days.
