Recommend Nursing Agency-Orlando, FL
Hi. Its been about 7 years since I have done any agency nursing. Currently am an ER/ICU/Trauma nurse. Was looking for an extra side job to pay some bills. Can anyone recommend a nursing agency in the Orlando Region? I currently work 24 on, 48 off so per diem nursing is the best. I am also not opposed to corrections nursing, just need something that will work with my full-time schedule.

South Alabama or Georgetown
I am thinking about applying to the FNP/AC Nurse Practitioner program at University of South Alabama. Was wondering if anyone was currently in this program who could give me some insight. Also was looking at Georgetown University FNP progam. I already have my Masters through WGU and noticed some of the courses are the same. Will I have to repeat advanced health assessment, advanced pharm and patho at either university. I was leaning toward University of South Alabama because they have a DNP program where as Georgetown does not. Or could anyone recommend a different school that might be better for a DNP via the nurse practitioner route? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You!

Best CRNA schools in Florida.
I am doing my research for CRNA. Am looking for any input for students in florida CRNA schools. Which schools are the best? Are there any fast-track programs? Are there online programs with clinicals vs. class-room programs? During research, I have come across that it requires a lot of commitment... ex. being unable to work while in the program. I would appreciate any input from anyone who is currently in CRNA school in Florida. I am in the south east florida area, am looking for schools in that region.

VA Emergency Dept Nursing
I have been an ED/ICU (primarily ED) nurse for three years, most of it as a travel nurse. I have seriously been thinking of settling down with a permanent job and have just started looking into the VA. I am interested in a gov. job, good benefits, retirement. From what I have read, the benefits and retirement are better with the government than what I can get at a non military hospital. I am looking for information on this type of nursing. Most of my experience are in bigger hospitals, Level II Trauma centers, I am a certified Trauma nurse. I am curious to see what a contrast would be from VA ED nursing to my normal duties now as a Critical Care/ED nurse during my travels. Also, the pay range seemed decent for an ED nurse through the VA compared to what I would get working full-time for a hospital in my area. I am prepared for the realization I will be taking a huge pay cut as a permanent staff member again compared to what I make as a travel nurse. Also, I have read that the government hiring process is a nightmare in itself. I welcome any comments.

NCH Seasonal Contract in Florida
Looking for someone who has completed a seasonal contract for NCH before. I have read the advertisements on their websites for a seasonal contract. Sounds okay since if you commit to a 6 month assignment, they pay for benefits year round. The pay rate might not be worth it though. I am going to check further, but I thought there might be someone who has completed one of these assignments that could give me more information.

Working nursing strikes.....
I am looking for any info on working strikes... Which companies primarily work strikes? What is the average pay? How does housing work? And about licensing? Should I apply for licensure in the states where strikes primarily occur so is a temporary license issued? Any information I would very much appreciate... Or if there are things that I need to be aware of before I decide to work strikes?

Hotel Accomadations for Travelers
I am starting a contract at Palmetto General Hospital next week. Since I will be driving from my hometown three hours away, I will only be staying three nights per week. I figured it would be cheaper getting a hotel than renting something, I am taking the stipend. However, I am finding it difficult to find a hotel which will accomadate my night shift schedule, since I am only staying two (days) during the day. Checking in at 0730 day 1 and checking out at 6pm the next day before work. Have anyone had success with a certain hotel during their travels who work night shift. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Advantage RN vs. Nightingale Nursing
I am making the switch from (local contracts) to travel contracts. Therefore, I have to find an agency which does travel contracts. I have applied and spoken to a very nice recruiter at Nightingale and am almost finished with the application process. I am a little leery because while doing research online about this agency, nothing I am reading is good. Does anyone have any feedback who works for Nightingale or has worked for them recently. Everything I can find on this website is from the beginning of 2012. I was referred to Advantage RN by another traveler I am working with and she has nothing but good things to say about this agency. However, I have been trying to get in touch with her recruiter for at least a month now with no success. We have been playing the best of phone tag. I have even given this recruiter when is best to contact me as I am a night shift nurse, and I am starting to think she makes it a point to call me on the night that I am working, skipping all three nights I am not working. I call her, always get a voicemail, she always calls back when I am at work. There doesn't seem to be any urgency here. I am not sure what to do. I thought about applying for another company but I would prefer to talk with someone who has had a good experience and can give me the name of a good recruiter. I guess...I'm just looking for feedback on whether I should go with Nightingale and hope for the best or keep hounding Advantage RN's recruiter. Or request a different recruiter with Advantage RN. Last resort, talk with an even different company and start over from scratch again. I have looked on Hyperdermics Highway to see who has the best rating on travel companies. I was thinking of just starting with #1 and working my way down the list. Any thoughts?
