What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I just had a mom name her baby Geesis (Jesus) the other day. She was really proud of how she chose to spell it, too. Ha

I have a ton, but am afraid that the names are so unique someone will read and figure out where I work! So instead... I went to nursing school with a beautiful girl named Melena. I wonder if she knew what her name meant prior to nursing school.

Also, my best friend's last name is Head. Her dad is Peter and his dad was Richard.

I'm not sure if I posted this before, but my husband went to school with a boy named Peter Eder (rhymes with eater).

Dad told me the baby was named Froster. With an r? I said.

And what are your other kids names?

Treer and Springer

Gotta give them points for originality.

Hey shay, in fact I did used to have a poodle named Precious.

'My daughter went to school in her prep year with

Sapphire, Crystal, Jade and a pearl'

I apoligise - I was wrong it was not Pearl I have just been reminded that it was in fact Amber - However what is one gem amongst another - I guess a lot to the mothers concerned - It must have been fashionable 20 years ago to have gem names. I must admit I did get them a bit confused

Well, I have to say that I'm sitting here LMAO at this thread. It may be the wine I'm drinking but the names are definitely a part of it.

In the late 70's and early 80's I lived and worked in Northern California, so there were the Moonglow's and Sunshine's, named by the leftover hippies.

But as recently as 2 years ago, we had a baby named, are you ready?, Ja Kub, in our little hospital in Washington state. Much of our clientele is moderately, if not completely, illiterate, IMHO. But then, we must not be judgmental, right?
