Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Satin Sheets - the poor kid - l cant beleive anyone would do that to a child
One of my co-workers swears they went to school with a Harold Richard Head. I don't think I need to point out the nickname possibilities.
my hubby does social security disability and he swears that he personally has seen people named lemonjello and orangejello (pronounced le-mohngello and or-ahngello). i don't know.
urban myth dennie. i have heard that one a million times.
isn't there an old story about a hispanic lady who had a baby girl and saw "female" written on her baby girl's layette.......so she thought they had named it for her?? female hernandez. pronounced "fehmallee
yup, heard that one too.
i also had a teen mom who named her child margarita......(sad).
i wanted to name my oldest that, because when she was concieved i was drinking, guess what ?:imbar
Two nominations here. I used to work in a pediatric office years ago. 1. Silver Gunn 2.Cadilac..."I knowed I could never afford me the real kind so I just named Jr. Cadilac."

Justin Time
Sunshine Jump
Twins named "Orangejello and Lemonjello" Pronounced Orangello and Leamngello
Dalastin (planned on him being "the last one"). Had baby sister 10 months later.
Fucquaya..I'll let ya'll sound that one out for yourselves
seems like people who name their babies strange names end up with sick kids...
could be the genes, eh?
After 30 years of pediatrics, I've heard a lot of UNUSUAL names! These are a few that come to mind.
Diamond Dick - named after grandpa
Darvonne - named after gramndma's medicine.
Ecclesiastes
Porsha, Mercedes and other car names
Precious Miracle Tomorrow Hope and then another named Precious Miracle Tomorrow's Hope
Triplets-Shaquita, Tequila and Markeeta
Rugby
Chandilier - not sure how spelled it now
November Dawn
Spring Forest
Some are the unusual (creative) spelling
Nike -pronounced like Nicki
Ambyr - never thought there was another way to spell Amber
Shunleo - mother pronounced it differently the three times I heard her say it.
I guess I take the cake! My oldest daughter was going to be Portia (from the Merchant of Venice, not the car), until my hubby came up with an even better name from the next piece of classic literature he read.
My youngest is on AHRN's list, although spelled differently. I won't give their names here, but suffice it to say that they never have had and probably never will have any duplicates in their classes!
i was telling my fiancee about some of these crazy names and he said that in pharmacy school, he had a classmate named sparkle box!!!
I took care of a patient by the name of "Lufituaeb".. beautiful spelled backwards!! There is a girl at my son's school named Whiskie!
The other morning we had a Kelly Green....Have no idea if that was intentional or not...We have had a few lately that are not so weird but seems the eitology might be from lack of imagination...Robert Roberts.....I mean, come on....
