I just started my application for NYU's ABSN program for Fall 2010. I heard they might not even be accepting applications for fall yet, though, since the spring deadline was only about a week ago. Is anyone else applying here for fall? Also, does anyone know what their average GPA for accepted students is? Would it help to submit my GRE scores even though they don't require it? Sorry I know its a lot of questions but I'm already nervous for admissions
hey fireflies. would they even disclose whether or not your app has been reviewed? i'm hesitant to call to check in so as not to irritate them. i imagine they haven't looked at all of the apps yet. i would feel better if we had a definitive decision date, but from what i've heard (on forums and also from admissions counselors) it could be as late as july! arghh..
I did ask if my application is all complete or if it's reviewed, but all they said was, "no news is good news!" I'm guessing if you haven't heard back, your application is; so far, complete and "reviewed" or still waiting to be reviewed. They wouldn't disclose anything else to me after that.
I'm afraid you guys will have to wait for your letters. My application got reviewed yesterday due to special circumstances and got an email today confirming my acceptance into the program. Do not go crazy, they are still reviewing a LOT of applications, so it will take a bit longer for you to hear something from them. THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU ANYTHING OVER THE PHONE, so just relax, trust me.:)
Just got accepted to NYU's 15 month program for the Fall 2010:yeah:. Now I have to decide between NYU and University of Miami:uhoh3:. Can someone explain to me how come I was not offered admission to Georgetown but got accepted to a higher ranked nursing program like NYU? Go figure!
Congrats JoeNurse2b! I have a few questions for you (hoping to ease the waiting a bit) :)
1. When did you submit your app?
2. Did you receive any correspondence from NYU re: midterm grades, etc.? I ask because I have not, so I wonder if it means they haven't reviewed my app just yet or maybe just have everything they need.. I know they don't ask everyone for midterm grades..
3. What is your previous healthcare and/or volunteer experience like? GPA? (if you don't mind me asking)
Huge congrats to you! And good luck with your decision b/t Miami and NYU. Both great choices.

1. I submitted my application 3 days before the March 1st deadline.
2. They emailed me a form where I had to write down the prerequisites taken (with grades), and write down prerequisites in process (Spring & Summer). I did not have to submit midterm grades.
3. I do not have any healthcare experience at all, just a few volunteer hours for a hospital (which they didn't even verified). I have a BFA with a 3.18 GPA and a 4.0 GPA on my prerequisites. I am also 34 years old and as far as I know, colleges tend to like older people so this is another advantage I think I have.
Good luck!

Hi Alba!
I have a few questions for you since you're the only one transferring to the traditional BS at NYU!!
How many credits do you already have and are you an internal transfer (within NYU) or from another college?
Also did you take any math credits? I'm asking because I have been emailing with one of the advisor at NYU form the college of nursing and I was told that I don't need to take any math...how is it possible? They told me Statistic is the only thing I need.
I'm asking because I'm at McGhee right now and I have to get 30 credits before I can transfer to nursing, so I'm trying to take some of the matching classes, mostly liberal arts. I thought math was a big requirements....apparently not! Not sure if my math from high school is enough, since it's been a few years!!
Also....do you think if they take in so many students for the Accelerated BSN will leave less spots available for the traditional BSN or maybe they are completely separate?
I will keep you posted if I hear anything else!
Thanks,
Kika
