NYU Fall 2010... HOUSING!?!
or is anyone interested in being roomies? it looks like there are some nice 2 bedroom places in manhattan close to campus.. might be helpful to live with another nursing student :) i am a 28 year old female living in SF, originally from norcal, but did my undergrad at the univ of co in boulder. i worked in advertising for 3 years, then went back to school to pursue nursing. i realize how crazy busy we're going to be but also hope to take advantage of my time out there. i love to go out, see live music, explore, long dinners with good friends, and staying active is very important (run, hike, yoga...). i have quite a few friends living in NYC, but love meeting new people and consider myself pretty outgoing. no boyfriend. no pets. i'm clean, responsible, easygoing, respectful.. currently i have just one female roommate and we've become really good friends. i'm looking to spend anywhere from 1000 - 1500 and hopefully live with just 1 (possibly 2?) other person, female preferred. email me for more info if you're interested! best wishes, ali [email protected]

NYU Fall 2010... HOUSING!?!
Hi to any future NYU nursing students... I have just begun my housing search (on craigslist). I decided against student housing because I think I might be a bit too old this time around (28 yrs).. AND I've heard it's very expensive compared to what you get. Just curious what other people are planning on doing? I'm looking for shared apartments close to NYU (east village, west village, chelsea, etc.), but would love to know if anyone has any insight on how better to go about it. I'll be at orientation in July and plan on staying a few extra days to check out places, but coming from California doesn't afford me a lot of time to get this sorted out. I'm kinda freaking out.. Thoughts??

hey! i've been meaning to ask what your status is.. i'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting, but considering your midterm grades, i don't think you'll have a problem. if i were you, i would call and just ask! do it! :) i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2010
most definitely looking for a place in manhattan.. i don't think student housing is ideal at this point in my life (i'm 28). but i do plan on trying to find something close to campus or a short subway ride away.

For all NYU Nursing Fall 2010 prospective students!
hi ms. worried... keeping my fingers cross for you. i'm sure you'll be fine. i do have some questions though about housing. i do plan on living off campus. friends of mine in brooklyn suggest living there but i think it would be easier to live close to closer to campus in manhattan (although i know it's pricey). any thoughts?

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2010
hi norcalgal, i'm in sf! where are you located? and i'll be attending NYU in the fall.. but i just wanted to let you know that my sister received her first bachelors in biology from the univ of CO, then went on to san diego state univ. to get another bachelors in nursing, which is a good school and i know she was very well prepared, but it definitely doesn't have the prestige of a school like NYU. she worked at SF general in the ER for a few years and has now been accepted to Univ of Washington and UCSF's Adult NP programs (number 1 and 2 ranked in the nation)!! she's a wonderful nurse and worked at a great teaching hospital, but i do not think it carries much weight where you attended nursing school as long as you do well (and aren't getting your bsn online or anything). not trying to deter you from nyu b/c i myself wouldn't want to be anywhere else, but i think whatever choice you make will not affect your chances of attending a high ranked masters program. just my 2 cents.

I would most definitely call. this is your life and it's very important and they understand that. everyone i spoke with was so patient and helpful. do not hesitate to call esp. if you think there are ANY questions at all concerning your app. you're only making their job easier by reaching out to them rather than them having to hunt you down if they do have questions. good luck!!!!!

NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2010
fireflies, i really do suggest calling them to check out your app status as genu9ine says. in my case, there was some confusion about one of my transcripts and luckily i did call and was able to sort it out over the phone this past monday. i then called back today was told i was accepted!! this small issue was holding up my application review and b/c they are so overwhelmed they have only sent out acceptances for those of us that have "complete" applications. in my case i was confident my app was complete, but when i called i was told something different. so this could be the issue in your case. i do not think you have anything to worry about. hang in there. check out my post here: https://allnurses.com/ny-nursing-programs/nyu-accel-bsn-437729-page21.html (hopefully this will offer you some piece of mind) good luck to you and keep us posted!! cheers, a

yes, same in my case! i would have been waiting as well. as annoying as we all are calling to harass them, they have so many apps to sort through so it makes sense that they would focus on complete applications first. glad you called to sort it out. and rest easy, i'm sure you'll be fine.

i applied to the accelerated program. and i sent my app in the middle of Feb... she also told me that those applicants that hear first have a "complete" application. so my only suggestion is to call and ask to speak with an admissions counselor. Ask him/her if there are any questions or concerns regarding your app. the 2 people i spoke with (today and monday) were very helpful. the small issue with one of my transcripts seemed to be the hold up in my case.

NYU Accel. BSN Fall 2010
hey all! congrats everyone... and... i'm in!!! i tried the netid thing today and it worked. so i couldn't help but call and she was able to give me an answer over the phone. i cannot believe it! for those of you still waiting... i called on monday b/c i couldn't help myself :) and luckily i did b/c there were having an issue with one of my transcripts that i was able to easily sort out. when i told her how anxious i was, she said (with my app open in front of her), "i don't see why we wouldn't offer you acceptance with your strong pre-req grades." when i mentioned that i was concerned about my undergrad gpa (3.2 in journalism from Univ. of CO) and she said "I wouldn't worry too much about that too much". so for those of you still waiting, just be confident that you've done well and try to say positive. i really do believe that you'll all be fine. and in case you're wondering, my credentials: Chemistry - A A&P I - A A&P II - in progress Micro - in progress Stats - A Nutrition - B Dev. psych - A Volunteer experience: hospital, SPCA, south african orphanage for 1 month Good luck to everyone!
