I start Nursing School Janurary 14th @ 8am. My schedule is 8am-5pm M-F until we start clinicals which are 7:30am-3pm. 9 hour school days are LONG! whew. I'm having such jitters, wow. I'm very very excited too all at once. My mind is swirling with all the thought of school, nerves, praying I'm smart enough when it comes down to the core. I have 3 children, a husband and 3 dogs, can I juggle everything? laundry, dinners, cleaning house? Is anyone else having such nursing school jitters? I've worked so hard for this, now I'm here and now I'm stressed..
All my scrubs, textbooks, stethescope etc are included in my tuition. All I have to buy is shoes, book bag stuff like that. I'm done with CPR and immunizations, now this week I will be fingerprinted & have my physical...Oh yeah and my interview is this Monday morning at 830am, then I"M SET!!!!!
I don't even know if I we wear scrubs! I guess I find out everything in orientation, but I just want to know now!

HAHAAA I know about being not patient! whew..I like to have it all planned out and it kills me to not know everything I'm about to do lol. haa Won't be long now and you'll know..make sure you let us know what you find out in orientation k?
So, can you guys tell me what types of things you have to get before you start the program? I don't find out until December 17-18 when we have our all day orientation. Do you have to get scrubs or do you have school uniforms? What supplies do you have to get? I am just curious so I can make a list of things I might need and budget for all of it!
we have uniforms at our school, I get fitted next week and it's 65.00, we also have to get a badge which is 7.50.
I have bought white sneakers, a stethascope (litmann Cardio), and a BP cuff (not sure if it's needed but I had a hard time in AP doing this so wanted to practice LOL).
I have also bought some books that I am studying before I start, I gather one of the toughest things I notice on the forums is the care plan, so I bought incredibly easy care plans LOL.
We have our orientation 1/14 one week before we start, so hopefully I will be pretty much set and not have to buy everything all at once the week before school starts.

Take a peek at our local thread...https://allnurses.com/forums/f145/we-got-into-clc-nursing-program-now-what-258427.html. We've had a lot of input from each other as well as current nursing students. Right now we're all set with our immunizations, CPR, shoes and rolling backpack. The rest will have to wait until orientation...scrubs, actual required texts from the list of $800+ worth...and such. Check it out!
Heehee...that thread looks familiar!!! Yes, everyone on our local thread has been very helpful...I love it!!
When I got my acceptance letter, it asked for a size for scrubs, so I assume those are given to us from school...we'll find out more on Jan. 7 when we got to orientation.
nurse2b_amy, good luck on Monday!!!
I have my CPR done and I have my immunizations scheduled for next week (Thursday, the 6th) and I have to schedule my appointment for my physical as well.

I am not completely sure if we have uniforms...my mom actually went to the same nursing school 20+ years ago and I know she had a uniform, but I see all of the nursing students wearing scrubs all of the time on campus. Maybe they just wear them to the lab??
I would like to buy some books to help me out, but I am afraid that in orientation they are going to tell us to get completely different books! I am just going to wait.
And I had trouble with the same thing in A&P...haha..

The books I got are supplimental, not my text books. However I did look to see what books the fall semester nursing students used and I have a list of what to get. I don't think it will change much, I bought the pharm/dosage book already they just started this course last semester so I doubt they are switching books already

LOL ya I think it was the cheap stethscopes we had in class the Litmann is much much better and I have no problem hearing appropriate sounds now. (of course I am practicing on hubby lol)
Yes, I know my daughter can handle it,,but it will be different. She used to ride the bus, but we moved to a new school and we live by the school (but can't walk because of busy HW) She's a big girl she''ll make it.. Ya, I say it all the time, most everyone else makes it. WE CAN MAKE IT TOO..

I start in January too and I've got jitters too! We start our orientation class which is a one week course before all our other classes start - from 8-5 even on a saturday!! What I'm mostly scared about is how stressed I'll get. I keep reading these threads on this site of how everyone hates NS, and how overwhelming it is. My friends are in NS as well and they complain like crazy. I am soo hoping I'll do ok and not have some nervous breakdown!
