I start Nursing School Janurary 14th @ 8am. My schedule is 8am-5pm M-F until we start clinicals which are 7:30am-3pm. 9 hour school days are LONG! whew. I'm having such jitters, wow. I'm very very excited too all at once. My mind is swirling with all the thought of school, nerves, praying I'm smart enough when it comes down to the core. I have 3 children, a husband and 3 dogs, can I juggle everything? laundry, dinners, cleaning house? Is anyone else having such nursing school jitters? I've worked so hard for this, now I'm here and now I'm stressed..

Hello! I feel the same way you do. Sometimes I get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. My first day of class is the same as yours. I am hoping that orientation next month will help calm my nerves somewhat (or it may do just the opposite!) I have three children as well (but no pets) and worry about keeping up with laundry and dinners. I'm not a clean freak so I don't worry so much about the house being spotless As far as dinners are concerned, I think I'm going to have to dust off the Crock-Pot and get reacquainted with make-ahead dinners.
All in all, I am excited and nervous, all rolled into one!
Good luck to you ~

Not only is the focus on keeping house, but also on keeping your sanity and taking care of yourself both physically and spiritually, whether you are a stay at home mom or working (or going to school - or both) outside the home.
For the meal planning part of life, here is the sister site of the above

I am starting Jan.28th. M-F, 8-5 with clinicals from 7:30-3:30. I am married and have 2 kids (3 & 5), a dog and 2 cats. I currently work full time and make $50,000 yr.. I am going to have to quit my job when I start school, but still have to keep paying on my house, car and childcare ($400 more than I'm paying now). A lot of people think I am nuts for doing this, and maybe I am. I am scared to death!
I'll be in the same boat in a year and a half. Currently I make 40,000/per year in accounting, but I plan on getting into an ADN nursing program in 2009. I will have to quit my day job to go to school days since in my area, there are no night nursing programs. I have to get my CNA license and work for half of my salary --still full time to pay all my bills. I have no husband to fall back on. And no child support. My son will be 18 by then and I hope will be off to college himself then, so I can be by myself to work fulltime evenings and go to school days full time.
My credit isn't great, so private loans are most likely not an option. I do not own a home, so no home equity loan. Also, I already have a bachelors degree, so I may only be able to get scholarships and some federal loans (since I only took out $10,000 for m y first degree.)
I am defintley scared to death, but I just turned 40 and cannot wait too much longer to do what I always wanted to do, but couldn't due to family issues.
If feel that if this is what God wants me to do, he will lead the way.

are you going to galen? That is when I start, at the Louisville campus.... I hear you with the jitters. I have 4 children (12, 9, 4, 2) hubby works from home, 2 horses, cats, dogs, etc... a very hectic life without school. I am very nervous about how to juggle it all successfully.

My program begins Jan. 7th and I'm feeling nursing school jitters as well. Many of you have a lot more responsibility than me. So, after reading your posts I feel a little silly about my jitters.
I'm married and currently my husband does all of the cooking. So, no worries there. No kids. I'm really concerned about losing my income, which is about $50,000/yr. I'm opening a home equity loan before I quit my job, to cover any expenses that arise after I deplete our savings accounts. I have a degree. So, no fed aid or fed. loans for my situation.
I'm nervous about being able to keep up academically in nursing school. I completed an LPN program in high school about 10 years ago. I did well in the program but then, decided Nursing wasn't for me. So, I'm nervous that I may not be making the right decision to go back. I'm entering a generic program, so the beginning should be a lot of info I've already seen. But still very nervous.
Currently, I teach math. So, I should feel confident about the math, but I'm even nervous about that.
I think overall, I just really want to do well. Especially, since I plan to become a CRNA. I think once classes start, I'll feel a lot better. I'm just very type A. I need everything planned, with back ups. Thanks for letting me vent.
Yes, I am going to Galen! I guess I could have gone to the evening program rather than the full day, but I just want to get it over as soon as possible and the night classes take longer.
FGreen...do they have an accelerated program for BSN where you live? We have a couple universitys here, that you can get you BSN if you already have your bachelors in something else and it only takes 18 months as opposed to the 2 yrs to get an ADN.
I have a great husband that helps out a lot, and I think everything will be good as long as everyone has clean underwear! My biggest concern is being able to pay my bills. I am gonna call to set up my financial aid appointment today, hopefully I will get some answers and feel more comfortable!
