Nursing School Jitters?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I start Nursing School Janurary 14th @ 8am. My schedule is 8am-5pm M-F until we start clinicals which are 7:30am-3pm. 9 hour school days are LONG! whew. I'm having such jitters, wow. I'm very very excited too all at once. My mind is swirling with all the thought of school, nerves, praying I'm smart enough when it comes down to the core. I have 3 children, a husband and 3 dogs, can I juggle everything? laundry, dinners, cleaning house? Is anyone else having such nursing school jitters? I've worked so hard for this, now I'm here and now I'm stressed..

Good luck to all of you...you will all be just fine.

Enjoy your first semester...it's a wild rild. I guarantee you by mid semester you will all be seasoned student nurses in a studying rythm that even the nerdliest of nerds would be proud of. All the doubts, if any, will be replaced with the ever so growing feeling of, "i can do this!".

Good luck and have fun!

Yep Lisa...we'll be in the same class! I sent you an email!

It was so nice to stumble upon this thread this morning. I will be start a night & weekend program January 7th. I don't know what the schedule will be, but I know I will be in class 2 or 3 nights per week, and then on the weekend.

I have to kids, (2 & 4), and I'm getting VERY nervous too! I just don't know when I'm going to study! If I'm home with the 2 year old all day, and in class nights/weekends, when WILL I study? We can't afford to put him in school a few mornings per week because we can't pay for it out of pocket and I'm unwilling to take out student loans (been there, done that, ain't goin' back for more...) So, I'm thinking I'll be seeing a lot of 4AM come January....:uhoh3:

I am not starting nursing school until August of 2008 so I am not too nervous yet. I am looking forward to getting the new edition of the following book. "How to Survive, and Maybe Even Love Nursing School" The new edition comes out November 30th.

I just found out yesterday that I will start in January. I am so nervous and excited. I cannot wait until I get my schedule so I can start planning. I have 4 kids (10, 6, 3, 20 months) that I am worried about. For the last couple of years I have been a stay at home mom going to school in the evenings, so leaving the little ones with a sitter is going to be challenging. Just like most others with a family I am worried how am I going to handle school and family life. I am making my husband take a week off from work in December to help get the house organized so when school starts everything will go smoothly. I think I am going to ask Santa for a good crock pot cookbook.:)

Hi busy mom. I've attached a link to a website I use all the time looking for recipies--just be sure you read the reviews to see what others who have tried the recipe thought about the dish.

Here is a link to the "Slow Cooker" part of the website....Enjoy!

;)WOW, I don't feel so alone anymore. I have to work and I start RN school Jan 14. Classes all day M,W,F and I am going to get 26 hours of work in to. I am married with 1 daughter left in the house, which plays TRAVEL softball, so I will miss lots of games. My school is a 1 hour drive from my house too. There is never enough time in the day to get everything done. I'm not a night person, so when the sun goes down I go down. I hate the time change Indiana has changed too. Dark at 6pm my body thinks it is bed time? crazy feeling.

Well thanks for reading I feel a little better.

I am reading everyones schedule and I am a little worried about mine. We don't seem to have half as much school time as everyone else. Atleast from what I am gathering of the catalog.

We have class mon/wed 8am-2:20 and Clinicals Tuesday 7a-8pm. That's it. We have to sign up for skills lab but it's open 5 days a week and you fit it in when you can. I love the schedule for my kids sake I'll be able to pick them up from school (except on Tuesday) So my child care issues are minimal. 4 days in a row to study is great, however, I have heard there are two tests every week wed/thursday and we have clinical all day on tuesdays so there will be no studying the day before LOL.

WOW, I'm not sure about the test thing, god I hope not...that would be more stress. I did hear you have lots of quizzes thou. I will go to school M,W from 8-3:50 and Fri 1-7pm and (clinicals all day on Sat for me starting Feb 14.) We can do it....:uhoh3:

6 weeks and counting...so so so nervous.

Oh, I'm right there with you! I work full-time and have a husband, a daughter and a dog and yes, I worry about how I will juggle it all, but I know where there is a will, there is a way and I will figure out what works best for me!!!

As far as cleaning, we have talked about having someone come in and do the basics...vacuum, dusting, mopping. Everything else will be kept up with as far as picking up and laundry and dishes. Mostly will be my husbands duty. Not sure if he realizes that yet, but he will soon enough...:lol2:

Best of luck figuring it all out!!! I have orientation on January 7 and then we begin on January 23. I'll be freaking out right along with you until then!
