RESUME QUESTION: Do I have to put my prereq GPA + nursing school GPA on my resume???

Hi All!

I have a question about writing my resume.

I have a pathetic 2.99 GPA from all my prerequisite courses from a separate university than my nursing school. My nursing school GPA is a 4.0 though.

Do I have to put down both schools on my resume or can I just put my nursing school GPA down?

I've never had my GPA from any of my schools on my CV, and have never heard anyone suggest that I should. People and organizations that care about your GPA will ask for transcripts -- they're not going to just take your word for it, anyway.

The only time I had to put my GPA on anything was for my first job, but that was because it was a competitive critical care internship for new grads.

I wouldn't put your GPA. If you graduated with honors, I'd certainly mention that.

I would not put it unless you are asked for a specific position. Just like with "references available upon request", no longer recommended for the run of the mill resume.

Yeah I am going to apply for a new grad program (my first job) so I do need a GPA on my resume; therefore, should I just stick to the nursing GPA? And if they want the employer can ask about the other?

I put my honor society membership on my resume, and let that speak for itself. No need to put my GPA on it.

Some organizations (like Houston Methodist System) include GPA & HESI scores as one of their selection criteria for new grads who are applying for their residency program. But it's not generally included on a resume. However, if OP has any other honors associated with that stellar GPA, such as Dean's List - be sure to include those.

So the answer to my question is, I only had to put my nursing school GPA, not the other one from my pre-requisite university.
