Nursing Products We'd Like To See

Updated:   Published

Our very own allnurses member moojoo had a thread requesting advice on how to deal with nurses who won't listen during shift report.

Seasoned allnurses member Emergent gave moojoo an idea on a method of getting and keeping that nurse's attention.

It's .... A NURSING PRODUCT THAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE:

Any nursing products that you'd like to see?

I like the pen because it made me giggle and was something I showed my coworkers and they got immediately

Thank you whalestales! It's the "universality" thing!

Just make an Ativan or sedative diffuser for the whole milieu when they're getting rowdy. Or the offices of administration. That way, we can get actual work done without being disturbed by desk-rider new ridiculous rules that interfere with actual patient care.

Some type of homing device for my pen and my stethoscope. Bonus, if it’s on someone else or in their pocket, they get a little shock. ?

You should get a Tile and put it on your stethoscope. It doesn't shock the person, but it will make a noise when you call for it and it's a GPS tracker.

Now this I love! A little stethoscope cobra LOL!

Changing subject, and getting back to the two GIFs, I prefer the second. Your cartoon Davey reminds me of the clay animated cartoon "David and Goliath," I watched on Sunday morning back in the sixties/seventies. Always had a moral lesson... loved Goliath, always used to say "oh Davey." I don't like the crying pen, just watching the figure, racing back and forth and reading the "waa" is too much noise and action, even through there is no sound track. It upsets me somewhat.

I like pauses, I like silence, I like reading between the lines. Now the snake stethoscope is tolerable, perhaps because it is quiet.

Thanks so much for your feedback, Ladyscrubs! I love feedback!

Actually, I don't care for  the Obnoxious Crying Baby Pen animation either, but obviously, it gets the point across: It's supposed to be obnoxious.

Did you know that the majority of commercial messages are meant to be obnoxious? Being obnoxious grabs the desired goal of attention.

As do I. When I'm doing my art, I'm listening to classical music which is non-intrusive, relaxing, and has no voices to distract me. I can easily hear my own thoughts.

And reading between the lines also allows the receiver to interpret the work. If the receiver is concrete, they take the lines at face value. If the receiver has abstract capabilities, they can read their own thoughts and perspective between the lines.

Thanks again, Ladyscrubs!

Oh, JadedCPN, there's already two mute buttons available!

One is called "Dieffenbachia Tea".

The other is called "Duct Tape".

Wow, Jaded! I said almost the exact same thing in another thread and came up with this:

They still make Pez!

Wouldn't it be cool if pharmacy could fill each individual dispenser and each patient was given a Pyxis Pez?!
