"that's nice, a nursing major eating a donut."
I would have said "That's nice, an instructor taking it upon themselve to attempt to embarrass a student with their sarcastic unwarranted remark."
Obviously a donut isn't the healthiest choice in the world (they didn't need to point this out), but your food choice (you were hungry, but that's not their business) should never be used as an example, nor should it be used as an opportunity to draw attention to someone like that.
That was very immature of the instructor.

Lol @ Marie. You seem like someone I'd like in person. That was very rude for the professor to say. Why do people assume that people in certain professions are supposed to be perfect role models. If that were true then all marriage counselors would have perfect marriages, all teachers would have straight A students, housekeepers would have spotless homes( I know a woman who is and although her home isn't nasty, it isn't spotless either). Anyway, you get my drift, people are only human and if it weren't for the fact that this guy has to give you a grade, I would tell him next time I saw him to kiss you were the sun don't shine.
BTW- he'd better be glad I was not there, I would have had to say something on your behalf.
This sounds like one of my nursing instructors, except she is female. During clinicals she sat behind the desk eating peanut M&M's and when we went to the dinning area for lunch a couple of students were at the hamburger and fry section and the instuctor walked by and said " fried, fried, fried". I wanted to say to her "you already had your protein from those peanut M&M's." How dare her.

I'm really hurt and embarrassed.
I was in a study group with my math professor and I got really hungry. I didn't want to leave to go all the way to the dining hall to get something "healthy" to eat 'cause I was afraid I'd miss something in my group, so I went to the vending machine just outside the room and got a donut. When I came back in the room (I had already had a bite of the donut) my professor looked up and said, "that's nice, a nursing major eating a donut." I almost died. Everyone looked at me and said nothing I was really embarassed 'cause I am a little overweight and I realize that wasn't a healthy choice, but it really made me feel bad.
just needed to vent
