Nurses Job Hunt

Published

The employment shortage for new grad nurses is a big scare on most threads on here. In most cases though I see that the longest time it took someone to find a job as a new grad was about 1 year. Please share your experiences on how long did it take you to find a job as a new grad, in which state and how did you land your job. Feel free to include other details.

Guys thanks for the replies. Let us stick to the post though and rather than asking questions to each-other please share your experiences on the job hunting and finding experience, thanks!

I think the circumstances under which someone is hired is relevant (such as past experience) as well as the type of nursing job and location; those all really influence the hire date. That's why i was asking, but if you only want a number of months, sorry, didn't mean to bog down the page.

OMG!!! it took me 7 or 8 months after I passed boards before I landed a job nursing. It was a agency that I got my first job with. Then I took matters in my own hand and started contracted myself out to hospitals. It was the best thing I ever did.

From what I am seeing here it takes from 3-6 months in average to find a job even though the first job for most people is not their dream job.

I think this data even tough limited shows that even though the job market sucks the way it does, it is still possible to find a job if one is dedicated.

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys!
