Does anyone who has been accepted know what the salary is once you graduate and begin your service obligation?

Is it equivalent to the NHSC salaries?

I took mine to financial aid on Friday. They have no idea what they are supposed to do, but said they would try to figure it out.

I completely echo everything ZrowGz has said about the application process. I didn't think I was competitive enough either, but would have been kicking myself if I didn't apply anyway...so I poured my heart into my essays, and I was awarded! This was a last resort to pay for my program, so I crossed my fingers and prayed.

I have been following this thread like a madwoman, and everyone has been so helpful and encouraging! Congrats to all those awarded, and to those who have not heard back, never give up on the search to find resources to pay for nursing school.

@Justine in the Welcome Kit in the Portal, there are handouts to give to your school (i.e. "Instructions for your Institution"). This sets up the arrangement for Nurse CORPS to directly send payments to your school.

For example, I had to explain that I will be reimbursed for the two loans I took out for both Summer '15 and Fall '15, as they were not familiar with the program.

They have printouts in the portal "Invoicing Guidelines" "Instructions for your school". I gave them the award letter and the point of contact paper as well. I made a followup appt. for this week just to make sure everything is running smoothly.

I went into my schools Financial Aid office today and was directed to Students Account. I printed out the document that guides the school on how to bill the tuition and they have no idea how the process works. She said she will "figure it out" and to return in a week.

My school is having an issue with the itemized list required for stuff other than the tuition and fees. They claim they can't bill for that. I tried explaining that the scholarship isn't sending them that money, but me since it all came out of my pocket for books and things, but they still don't want to do it.

I hope you can get it straightened out! I contacted my bursar's office and told the lady that I needed her to submit the invoice for summer AND fall. In the welcome kit, it clearly says that if summer is a part of the normal curriculum, participants are entitled to the reimbursed for the summer...the lady is making me confirm that information before she sends them anything. it's a bunch of people that just DON'T want to do their jobs!

If we haven't heard anything by now is it safe to feel like it will never happen? My orientation is tomorrow and I don't know if I should even attend bc there's no way else to pay for school.

I just got an email from She sent out an email attachment with some insight that you might find useful. She said this about the ORC payment:

"There is no action required of you for your ORC payment. (Neither you nor your school needs to send NCSP an invoice.) ORC's were computed during the application process when your school provided us with the estimated costs for Books, Supplies and Uniforms. For your planning purposes, please note that the average paid in the first year tends to be $2,300.00. The ORC payment is automatically made once per contract year, typically in October."

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure. I don't want to say yeah or no, but you might need to try and contact HRSA to see if they shed some light on your situation.

In a past year's thread, someone was notified on September 30th. I think our chances at this point are very slim, but they do still exist. Please do call HRSA and let us know what they say.
