1. I applied for the HPSP. My recruiter sent me a message on Friday saying that things were delayed and that results would be out today. I've been on edge all day but it's getting later and later and I'm starting to worry! I'll be keeping an eye out on this thread!
2. Sooo, I got a text message on Friday from my recruiter telling me that results would be in today, but I haven't heard anything yet and it's killing me?!!! Anyone else hear anything yet?
3. I hope you got your results! I was contacted in late august by my recruiter saying that all of the slots had been filled. So, I was just going to submit my package next year in hopes of getting in...then I got a message in September saying that a spot had freed up and if I wanted to continue. Long story short, I had my chief nurse interview yesterday and will have a phone interview with an NP in like 9 minutes!!! My recruiter told me that my package will be looked at next month and then by December 5th I should have an answer. So don't give up!!! Congrats audqyee on being accepted! And good luck to everyone else if you are still in the process!
4. No problem! Yes it's nice to see someone who's gone through it and survived lol. It will be a really quick 16 months. Get ready! If you have any more questions I will be happy to help.
5. Hi everyone! I graduated from MUSC's accelerated BSN program this past May and will be starting the DNP this fall. I will say this, we have had loads of students who did NOT have a lick of hospital-type experience. We had people from all walks of life: military, older individuals, some who were LPNs, master graduates in other fields, EMTs, etc etc. Musc would prefer that you have experience (either volunteer or work related), but they like to see consistency. So your volunteer or work experience doesn't have to necessarily be health related. They generally want someone who can be the total package, which is why there isn't a perfect cookie cutter idea of what characteristics and experiences one should have. Do your best on your applications, put your best foot forward and present yourself in the best light. Good luck to all. This is an exciting time! Edited to add: 1) Admissions for the Spring are generally much more easier to get into than the Fall start. 2) For anyone who's close by MUSC and wants to keep track, here is the website to do that: https://mainweb-v.musc.edu/applicationstats/nrstatus.htm You can only view the chart if you are using one of MUSC's computers. You can go to the MUSC library during normal business hours (if you don't already work there and have a badge to get in after hours) and use the computers in the lobby to check. This kept me sane while waiting for official notification.
6. The credit check is a great sign! Good luck to you all. Not too much longer to wait (:
7. Hello, I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to say thanks for starting it! I've enjoyed reading about everyone's role as a nurse educator. I am currently debating on whether to pursue nurse educator courses in conjunction with my FNP/DNP curriculum. I will be going to school full time and also working full-time in a nurse residency program. I've tutored a math course for a local GED program in my area a few years back and I loved it! I am currently teaching a nursing science course for the upward bound program, which is a program soecifically for high school students in hopes that they pursue higher education especially in STEM areas. The opportunity fell into my lap and I have really enjoyed making up my own lessons. I'm just wondering if adding 3-4 courses into my curriculum will be too much for me to handle. I have until this August to decide. Decisions decisions!
8. I envy you! I am stuck on getting my medical documents together. I am really hoping to be selected. How did you find the process? Does your program run through the summer? If so, have you found it difficult to request a paper tour for your ADT?
9. Not sure about the mental health thing...as I understand it, whatever you go to school for is the field they expect you to work in. To get a better understanding of eligible work sites, google hrsa hpsa by address and there will be a site that will let you type in the address of a clinic or hospital and tell you if it is eligible or not. The score has to be 14 or above.
10. Yes they are pushing the DNP programs wayyyy more than the MSN. I don't know how many slots they have available for each DNP specialty but yes they are wccepting more DNP students than MSN. I will add though that if you do the DNP you will also be awarded your masters as well.
11. Yes that appears to be correct. But that is for the masters degree, post bac fnp program just for clarification. They are phasing out the masters program to keep in line with the goals of healthy people 2020 to have more doctoral-level prepared fnps. So eventually the masters degree program will eventually go away.
12. Current application status update
13. Congrats!! I am excited as well! See you in July! (:
14. Just paid the $485 matriculation fee to secure my spot. Here's an updated chart as of May 13th, 3:50am for those that are wondering what's going on.
15. My CV was 2 pages. I included a short description about my work experience and educational opportunities. As long as you write your first initial and last name and your special numerical code on each page you will be ok.
