  1. Be yourself for the interview. Easy to say but honestly its the best advice to give. I remember my first question was 'Why nursing' and it went from there. Generally not a difficult interview because my interviewer was laid back and spoke to me as if I was already in. She asked very few questions and then jumped to how the program was structured and then gave me a tour. I was fortunate to get a scholarship that covered the program. I suggest for you to do research and apply to multiple scholarships. It will take a lot of time but will be worth it in the end. Good luck!
  2. Thank you so much for this post!!!! Graduating next week and beginning to study shortly after.
  3. I am one semester away from completing an accelerated nursing program with a two year old. I have a great support system with both grandmas and my husband. But even so, it was very difficult specially in the beginning. There will be days when you will feel guilt and even shame but you just have to remember that it's all temporary. One advice that I have to give is to 'study smarter, not harder'. Make the best of your time and use it efficiently so that you can be fully present when your with your child. Also make time worthwhile like going to actual places where he would have fun and you can relieve stress. Being a parent and a nursing student is totally possible! It won't be easy but it'll be worth it :)
  4. You should contact them and speak to a representative directly.
  5. I will be selling books as well! Message me if you are interested :)
  6. that did sound like a bad clinical day. But you are forgetting that this is the best time to make those silly mistakes because after all you're still a student! I'm currently half way done with my accelerated program and finished up with med surg (thank goodness!) and we never got to do THAT much in one day. So my point is although it was a bad day, the next time you have a patient with a similar scenerio you'll be an expert at changing the wounds and remembering all your materials! Best of luck, nursing isn't easy. Keep your head up high and just keep moving forward.
  7. The only thing they mentioned about the ORC payment is that it is considered late after November 15th
  8. Best of luck to everyone who did not receive the scholarship! Never be discouraged to pursue your dreams.
  9. I went into my schools Financial Aid office today and was directed to Students Account. I printed out the document that guides the school on how to bill the tuition and they have no idea how the process works. She said she will "figure it out" and to return in a week.
  10. I have not yet received my participant e-mail. How do you know or where do I see if the contract was signed?
  11. Best of luck to you with the scholarship and nursing school!!
  12. Oh no I did reach out to the financial aid office to let them know about the scholarship since the first payment towards tuition was due august 10th. I asked the counselor if I should cancel my private loan and she said yes, not to worry about the payment due because it will be noted in their system that a scholarship will be coming in. I also read something within the scholarship guidelines document that they can only repay a loan for the summer and fall semester, and my loan was for the whole year. Maybe I should have just reduced the amount to only cover the fall semester.
  13. Hello everyone! I just read through the 40+ pages in this forum. I wish I could have found it earlier to follow along with all of you. Congratulations to those who have received the scholarship and good luck to those who are still waiting to hear back. There is still plenty of time. I received my finalist email August 8th around 12 AM and just checked my credit karma and saw that they did check my credit on 7/29. I will be attending an accelerated BSN program at Concordia College in NY. My GPA is 3.6, EFC is 0, and focused my essay on my experience as an AmeriCorps member. My only concern is that I may have gone way ahead of myself once i received the finalist e-mail. I went ahead and canceled my private loan (which funny enough had just been approved a couple days prior) they say that even if your a finalist the award is still not guaranteed. Any advise? Thanks, A
  14. Awesome! Please add me on FB my name is Aderlys Tineo :)
