Actually, it was only two and a half hours, not a day, and it was staged from start to finish for NBC. Don't get me wrong: I'm not a Hillary basher. But this piece had virtually nothing to do with nursing. It was only a photo op.

Wow, I am really impressed by nurse Michelle Estrada. It took a lot of courage to have not just one person shadowing you but a presidential candidate and the Secret Service along with the press. I can't imagine doing any part of my job under those circumstances.

I agree. Also if there had been a true interest in learning about a "typical" day in the life of a bedside nurse, Michelle Estrada's patient assignment would not have been reduced from 6 or 7 patients to only 4.

Good point. That had to be nerve-wracking.

I don't mean to sound like a cynic, but I am frustrated by Hillary's apparent need to do this "image makeover." It's absurd that Hillary actually spent time washing this woman's dinner dishes. Is this really what it takes to be a female presidential candidate? We've got to make her look like a homemaker in order for her to appeal to voters?

Also, if the SEIU really wants candidates to know what nursing issues are, why not set up a public forum and let Hillary -- and all of the candidates -- hear from veteran nurses about what's really going on in hospitals? This seems nothing more than a squandered opportunity.

Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. I think this is exactly what the candidates should be doing, and that is getting to the grassroots level of the populace. Everything she does now is followed by a crew of cameras and security. So what will NOT be a photo op when all actions are scrutinized?

Hillary has always supported nurses. When she first came to New York she did. This is just a continuation of it.

I think she is trying to undo that damaging rumor that went around about her about 10 years ago. The rumor had her saying that nurses are overpaid. I never saw any evidence that she really said any such thing but 20 different nurses must have told me about it. None of them could ever list a source like a newspaper quote or a video. Someone said it on a message board somewhere and most people that heard about it believed it.

She really is in a catch 22 situation. but, she has not supported nurses in the past. In fact both parties have snubbed nurses and opted to invite DR.s to campaign photo ops at hospitals and medical centers.

They haven't figured out that nurses could actually contribute more to a campaign financially than doctors. There are so many more nurses.We may not make as much money but what nurses contribute to health care can not just be measured in dimes, nickles and pennnies.
