they will tell you what they want you to know. After a while the math will seem like your easiest course because there is only ONE answer, while the rest have many variables. Good luck!!!!

It's a pretty easy course if your school is anything like mine. If you know the metric system, decimals, and fractions you will do well. I took this course when I trained to be a MA, and it was easier and I'm horrible at math. Pharm is what scares me.

I'm in Pharm I right now and we use dimensional analysis to do our dosages. It doesn't take long to get the hang of it at all. I do not like math at all...never have and very rarely do I have problems with the med math. The first week I was doing as many extra problems as I could to make sure I had the process down and by the second week I was fine. You can do it! I'm also in Intro to nursing but I'm not sure if that's the same as nursing I?

@RN2b2014mville ...you and I are apparently about to enter the same program at Morrisville. :) I see you got your info packet the other day too...I was also wondering about the med math test. I'm not so great at math...but I managed to pull an A in Chem. for Health Majors at OCC last semester and it was a lot of dosing questions with fractions and decimals, etc. I'm hoping it's similar to that!

Will you be at orientation on the 11th??

Yes, I am at the Norwich campus though! How are things going? Are you ready for 1B?

"Math Attack: Strategies for Winning the Pharmacology Math Battle" by Karen Champion RN/MS is a terrific guide book if you're math-phobic. It walks you through different ways to calculate answers to word problems in dosaging math and she explains everything step-by-step. She encourages you to find the formulas that work for you. One person might like the dosaging formula better than a proportional calculation, for example. She gives you sample questions (complete with answers) to work on to test your knowledge. I really loved this book.

I just scored 100% on my last Pharmacology math test, so I think it's worth it!!!
