Syracuse Nursing
I work in Syracuse. Had the job offer before I even graduated, just had to pass the test. I don't think any of my classmates had any issue securing jobs as new grads. I work at Upstate and as it's in the state system we have great benefits. Pay isn't bad. I want to say starting pay was around $46k when I started but that was a few years back and there have been several system-wide raises since then so I think it's even higher now. You also get a pretty substantial raise after your first year and smaller yearly raises after that. Also a substantial shift differential for nights. The cost of living here is pretty inexpensive compared to other cities so it is a decent starting salary for the area. If you take a look at the website for Upstste you'll see there are a ton of positions available all over the hospital. New grads are always welcome, we even had a nurse residency program for new grads and the woman who runs it is awesome!

Nursing 1A advice med math
They had us use Calculate with Confidence and I found it to be very helpful. We have our second med math test tomorrow and I'm trying not to stress about it....I somehow managed a 100 on my first attempt for 1A even though I'm pretty bad at math...hopefully this test will be just as straight forward!

Nursing 1A advice med math
Ah, I'm on the main campus and I thought I was ready for 1B... until they started all this blended learning stuff. I'm not enjoying that but it's new so hopefully I'll get used to it. Did you start clinical last week?

Nursing 1A advice med math
@RN2b2014mville ...you and I are apparently about to enter the same program at Morrisville. :) I see you got your info packet the other day too...I was also wondering about the med math test. I'm not so great at math...but I managed to pull an A in Chem. for Health Majors at OCC last semester and it was a lot of dosing questions with fractions and decimals, etc. I'm hoping it's similar to that! Will you be at orientation on the 11th??
