CAn anyone tell me what to expect in nursing 1 and what I could use to prepare for med math? I'm horrible in math :/ a little nervous to be honest.

They had us use Calculate with Confidence and I found it to be very helpful. We have our second med math test tomorrow and I'm trying not to stress about it....I somehow managed a 100 on my first attempt for 1A even though I'm pretty bad at math...hopefully this test will be just as straight forward!

Excellent! I know you'll love this book. She writes as if she's sitting right in front of you, having a conversation. The way she explains the formulas and how to determine which one to use is great! I found out that I prefer the proportional method to calculating my answers. I was struggling with the dosaging formula (putting the numbers in the wrong order), so switching to proportional helps me "see" the problem. For IV problems using gtts/min, I use the fractional method because I can make sure to cross-eliminate unnecessary info. I can see, at a glance, if I've included the appropriate data.
This book definitely takes the "dread" from word problems :) Our next Pharmacology math test is in 2 weeks. If you pass this one with a 90% or better, you're done with medical math for the rest of the semester. I feel very confident that I'll be able to pass this one, and it's all due to her book!
