Published

CAn anyone tell me what to expect in nursing 1 and what I could use to prepare for med math? I'm horrible in math :/ a little nervous to be honest.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to pick up this book bc math is not my fave subject and I know when it comes to calculations for nursing it's a must know.

Excellent! I know you'll love this book. She writes as if she's sitting right in front of you, having a conversation. The way she explains the formulas and how to determine which one to use is great! I found out that I prefer the proportional method to calculating my answers. I was struggling with the dosaging formula (putting the numbers in the wrong order), so switching to proportional helps me "see" the problem. For IV problems using gtts/min, I use the fractional method because I can make sure to cross-eliminate unnecessary info. I can see, at a glance, if I've included the appropriate data.

This book definitely takes the "dread" from word problems :) Our next Pharmacology math test is in 2 weeks. If you pass this one with a 90% or better, you're done with medical math for the rest of the semester. I feel very confident that I'll be able to pass this one, and it's all due to her book! :D :D :D

Ah, I'm on the main campus and I thought I was ready for 1B... until they started all this blended learning stuff. I'm not enjoying that but it's new so hopefully I'll get used to it. Did you start clinical last week?

They had us use Calculate with Confidence and I found it to be very helpful. We have our second med math test tomorrow and I'm trying not to stress about it....I somehow managed a 100 on my first attempt for 1A even though I'm pretty bad at math...hopefully this test will be just as straight forward!
