Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:
1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)
2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)
Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!

How long does it normally take for people to hear? I’m in the same boat.

Since this is your first year applying did you get credit check the previous years?
Sorry to reply so late guys, life and work.
1. Apply for the scholarship HRSA if you’re going or planning to go to school
2. Hearing back about your application can take weeks or months. To be honest my approval happened 2 weeks after school started in WA state but after that they paid my first semester within a week or two, I got my first month check as back pay and my current month check at the same time. I also received my ORC check (other related costs) a few weeks after. They are a bit slow but if you keep in contact you should be fine.
3. I had been told by reps they usually approve scholarships to people despite financial standing. It is due to the limited number of applicants who actually fill out the paperwork properly and on time as to why they are able to do so. My prior degree/life was business and I had done well to prepare to pay for my BSN and living expenses without working for 3 years while doing pre-reqs and nursing school. So the old adage that’s it’s strictly financially based is incorrect.
4. lastly, be warned, HRSA did not take taxes out for me when I received my checks. Therefore, I had to pay income tax at the end of the year even though I was not working. So be cautious and need a few thousand in the bank after you receive your ORC otherwise you may be in the negatives. I prepared for it and my accountant did well to reduce my costs of income taxes but for those of you who may be new or not too savvy with taxes, just keep a good savings in preparation.
Best of luck to every one of you applying and thank you for choosing your fields. Remember that HRSA also pays for doctorate and master degrees as well with the same benefits ^.^
Hi!
First time applying to Nurse Corps--I received a credit check from Credco last wk. I read that there was a desire to focus on Women's Health providers this 2020 cycle-any other WHNP-ers out there who have applied and heard anything?
I received the the NHSC loan repayment a few yrs ago while working at the same FQHC and we heard back at the end of September.
Best of luck & fingers crossed!
Hey everyone! I applied for the National Health Service Corps Rural Community Loan Repayment Program, received my "finalist" email on June 29th and I accepted the award within 5 minutes of receiving the email (LOL), I looked online today and the contract has been countersigned by the ofam approver, HRSA on July 14th around 4PM, but I have NOT received an email stating "CONGRATS! You've been awarded"...has anyone else had this as well? I'm wondering if I have truly been awarded this or if I'm out of the running since I haven't received an email yet.

Which one did you apply for? I had one last week as well, and one a couple weeks ago, but applied for both.
