Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:

1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)

2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)

Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!

I won’t be able to watch the webinar because I’ll be working. Does anyone know where I can get this information from HRSA that will be shown on the webinar Tuesday?

Anyone who received the award have solid tax advice on how to manage the “income” aspect of the repayments? I’ve seen mixed advice & honestly my accountant isn’t super informed on this type of program. Is it possible to get out of this without paying taxes? I’ve seen some people include a letter to the IRS advising this payment is not income - no red flags from the IRS yet. I’ve also been told you can quantify the income a special way on your taxes so it doesn’t get included as “income” per se. Anyways, any advice appreciated. Thanks! 

 

Oh and also, are you automatically setting up tax deductions from your monthly payment?

Hi! I'm a med-surg/ortho RN that just graduated with my MSN. I was looking into loan repayment/forgiveness and found the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment opportunity. I just applied for 2021 but I was wondering if anyone who received the award in recent years knew if you could also still work towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program for other non-qualifying loans? (I have a bachelors degree in another discipline). The website says something about not being able to have another contract for working at the site. Thanks in advance!

And if anyone sees a 2021 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment thread, I would love to follow that as well. I do not see a current discussion for this year.
