2020 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Published

Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:

1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)

2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)

Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!

Specializes in ER/ICU RN.

RN, LRP applicant

Score 19, DTI around 190%, tier 1

Credit check June 16, no second credit check that I can see.

Still “Under Review”.

For the love of god, just give me a decision already. 8ish months of not being able to make a career move is ridiculous.

I totally understand - last year I got a job offer that I couldn’t refuse after waiting months for an answer from LRP. A week after I accepted my new job, I got my email that I had been accepted into LRP and had to decline it which was the hardest decision ever. But I try to see it as that I helped someone else giving them my spot that year. At that time my DTI was 200% and my site score was 16 and I had one credit check in May.

Currently:

RN-BSN, LRP applicant, DTI is 190% and my site score is 19. Credit score done June 16. I still haven’t heard anything and that’s super frustrating and confusing. I just keep praying.

Why did you need to decline the LRP offer? Would they not let you take the award at your new job?

You cannot go to a new job at a different site after applying. I called and asked, believe me. Regardless if the new site qualifies for the program, it immediately disqualifies you. You have to be at the site you originally applied with for your application to be valid.

Ah OK. But you can change jobs after your contract is finalized, correct?

This happened to me last year, and this year I have not heard anything back.

No I didn’t and then I emailed asking which loans were approved and I got this! Now I’m freaked out!
