Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:
1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)
2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)
Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!
@emaverett15 I don't think you'll ruin your chances. I'm like 99.999999% sure that if you received the co-signature, you are in. But on the sign in page of the application portal, there is a "contact us" section in the lower right corner. You can either call or email. I've emailed before and they usually respond within 24 hours (during the week).
OK. I emailed a lady who was assisting me during the application process, I included the screen shot that shows the approver signed the contract to see if she can clarify for me...I’m thinking that maybe they haven’t sent all the “CONGRATS” emails out yet or they forgot about mine. ??♀️
OK. So they’re still picking finalists then?! I emailed the lady who’s been helping me during the application process, maybe she can give me some answers as to why I haven’t received a “CONGRATS” email and welcome packet yet. I thought maybe you had received the award since you knew about the consigner and saying that I was golden and got the award! Thanks for your help.
I haven't received the award yet. I"ve just read the last 2 years' threads here and the application guide front and backwards several times over while enduring this excruciating waiting process. LOL. Yes, they will continue picking finalists through much of August and a few in September. Also, from everything I've read once you receive the co-signature, you are officially in. I'm interested to hear what response you get.

For anyone who receives the Nurse Corp LRP make sure you significantly increase your state & federal income tax withholdings. The first four months will be reported on your 2020 return and it won’t kill you if don’t significantly increase the withholding but in 2021 you will get killed by your income tax because you will be in a much higher tax bracket then you are now. I owe the Feds over $7,000 for last year and had increase my withholding based on the 4 months from the the year before.
