2020 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hey people! I've been interested in the HRSA Nurse Corps Loan repayment program for several years, just never took the time to apply. I am full-time nurse faculty in an BSN program. For those who have applied before:

1. When does the cycle usually open? ( I have signed up for updates)

2. How do you calculate your DTI? (This is all new to me?)

Thanks for your responses. Hopefully we can kick some student loan debt in the butt!! I'm excited and haven't even applied yet! Blessings to you all!

@AMiles0008 Just curious are you a RN or NP applicant?

Have any NPs (non faculty) been awarded yet?

I got credit check notification from Credco July 15th and site POC verification of income at the end of July.

NCLRP applicant: DTI >200% and HPSA score 18.

The wait is killing me!

Specializes in Women's Health NP.

@tonydaman I'm a non-faculty WHNP, I hadn't heard from NC but this week I did get a COI from NHSC LRP. The wait is intense but you're not alone!

First off - CONGRATS to all those who have been rewarded!

2020 HRSA LRP APPLICANT (Update as of 8.13.20):
- Nurse Practitioner (non-faculty
- HPSA Score 17
- DTI 150%
- Status --> Under-review
- No credit inquire that I can tell

Specializes in ER/ICU RN.

Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Applicant

RN, score 19, DTI around 200%, Credco check June 16

I’ve literally been staring at the same “Under Review” since the end of February. This is kinda unreal man. If I get it, that 2 year service requirement is more like almost 3 years including how long the application to approval process takes.

Received an email that my application status had been updated. Accepted my award. Application status is now Accepted Award - Under Final Review.

Site score: 16

DTI: >200%

Good luck everyone!

I'm seeing a few Nurse Corps LRP peeps getting updates. I also got an email on 7/27 with the great news that I'd been accepted as a finalist, to sign in and confirm my interest/enter direct deposit info. Now the website shows "Accepted Award - Under Final Review". Here's the thing... no credit check yet? Can allneigh4u or others comment if they'd rec'd credit checks? Fingers crossed for a CONGRATS email in the next few weeks...!

Site score: 19

DTI: ~180%

Yes, I received a credit check on 6/17. Mine also says “accepted award- under final review.” Yes, hopefully we will get congratulatory emails soon with co-signature! Good luck to all!

Interesting! Can anyone comment whether I'd even get a finalist email without getting a credit check first? I realize I wouldn't get the award without having the credit inquiry completed.

Thanks!

@waitingPRN I'm almost 99.99% sure that a credit check is required before being selected as a finalist. My credit was checked by Credco on 6/11/20 and I received a finalist email on 7/15/20. They only checked my Equifax report.

@NPWoo Thanks for the info. This makes so much sense! Equifax is the only credit agency I don’t track - so must be why I wasn’t alerted. Excited for the final announcement to come through. Good luck to us all!

Does anyone know of a situation where they were a finalist for the award but did NOT get approved for the actual loan repayment?

thanks :)

I would like to know this as well! The wait is so stressful!

@tianova I think I read on last year's thread that someone who received funding last year was a finalist the year before and didn't receive funding. Don't know the circumstances though. But I sure hope not. Tomorrow makes 6 weeks since I was alerted that I was a finalist; hoping for a co-signature some time this week.
