Ammonia 293. Yeah, she was "sleepy". And still alive, 2 weeks later. Still "sleepy"....

Specializes in Adult M/S.

Had a Pt a while ago brought in by EMS for weakness. Had a K of 1.7 H/H 3.7/13.8. Went to the ICU (after several units transfused). His K was replaced but oops he got a bit too much and his K jumped to 8.3! Then he was getting solumedrol and his sugars dropped to 10. Somehow he survived his hospitalization and was discharged home.

Pt brought to ER by EMS w Hgb 3, Hct 11.9, plt 28. Receiving ER hangs 2 units RBCs, starts a bolus, and ships pt to ICU. Many units later, pt's hgb back up to 8.2.

Pt was found unresponsive at home in a recliner. 2 days afterwards, pt is awake and feisty enough to have slugged a nurse and bitten a Dr. They deemed the pt stable enough to come to the floor.

Specializes in MSN, FNP-BC.

CO2 on an ABG 198. Pt placed on high frequency ventilation (neonate). Headed home Dec 1. Can't say there wasn't brain injury but they survived!
