Now That the Semester is over....What Will You Do Better Next Semester

Published

So my first semester is oficially over. I know I am going to go though some withdrawal. I am already thinking ahead to next semester. Now that this semester is over, what do you plan to do different/better next semester?

Me:

I plan to study even harder than I did this semester

I plan be more organized

I plan to be more outgoing and make some good friends

1.) Actually listen to my recordings..I record lectures and only listen to them for 5 minutes.

2. Buy books now and start reading over the holidays b/c I tend to slack off BIG time at the beginning of the semester, so this way I have room to slack off in january...

3.) Start studying in the library more often. I noticed better grades on my finals due to the fact that I practically lived in the library for a week.

4.) Stop studying with ppl that dont want to study and just want to have "girl talk"..

Go to bed earlier the night before clinicals so I'm not hitting the snooze button twice the next morning and then running around yelling and looking for my shoes in the dark and then mad that I didn't have time to stop and get coffee

Take clinicals more seriously because I'm going into my fourth semester and I know that one day me and my instructors will part and I will be on my own.

Practice nursing skills more.

Dont cram,just study everyday.

Try my best so I can become a competent nurse.

Go to sleep early before clinicals.

Do NCLEX questions every day or every other day.

I am just going to be honest and say study-period. Also, procrastination has a hold on me like crack or something!

My semester officially ended yesturday! I was going through withdrawal too, that's how i found this forum. :wink2: So i signed up today and joined. Next semester I will:

Read the chapters before the lecture

Record notes/powerpoints into recorder after the lecture, well before exam

Volunteer to try things first at clinicals

Not procrastinate

Make time to study for nclex in between course material

1. study harder!!!

2. read the chapters prior to lecture

3. review my notes after lecture sometime, I never do this...and I heard that you remember things better by doing that

4. stop procrastinating

Study smarter, not so much harder.

Stop leaving assignments until the night before they are due (still got As on them, but staying up past bedtime and being cranky all day the next day is something I won't be doing next semester).

Be more physical active.

Try to enjoy the semester. It lasts too long if you don't enjoy it.

Maintain a social life. I need to keep sane.

Good question!!! I have thought about this even before going on this forum. Well I would say to try not to be so darn stressed out about everything. Also I would like to read before class so I have at least somewhat of an idea of what the class material is going to cover.

I am going to get all of the "busy work" done before the next class starts! I have made flashcards for all of the drugs we are required to know the next semester, I am working on and plan to complete all assignments before the next semester begins! I hope that it will give me time to read and comprehend all of the material!

Study in the library more often

Do more study groups with my girls (it really helped, started in mid-semester and we got a lot done)

Not procrastinate with my case studies

There is 1 thing that I am going to do different this coming semester. I am going to create an ongoing study guid for every class. One that I add important information to after every class lecture...highlights, suggested reading, etc...

Then, exams will be a breeze to study for and I won't be questioning wheather or not I think I have studied enough.

Study guides really saved my orifice this last semester during the finals...and most teachers don't just hand one out...I suggest that everybody make a study guide for every class!!!!

Every semester, I did this... I got progressively better and better... until last semester I did my best ever! Good luck to you!
