I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Yes, I am applying for Spring 07 too :) I just finished my CPR class today.
I didn't register ahead of time. I got lucky and there were plenty of spots open the day I went in. But, since I had to be on campus for other things, I didn't try all that hard to reserve a testing seat without calling.
As for the NET, you only need 50% to apply, like Fun said. They do not use the score to rank us for admission purposes. They only care that you make at least 50% on both parts. Good luck!
Wow thanks for reserving a spot, I'll see if that works ..hmm CPR class? Is that required if you wish to apply for El Centro?
And how much devotion for studying would be needed to get a good score for NET? Maybe about 1-2 hours per day for a good 2 weeks? Because I will be taking A&PII for Summer II, and Micro for Fall, I'm not sure how I can manage to study for the NET and turn it in by August 31st. Agh..maybe Fall 2007? lol
Have you been to an information session? It would probably be a good choice to go to one. They are very informational. Do you have an application packet yet? There is a checklist to follow.
To answer your question, yes CPR is required, and must be repeated after the second semester whether or not the certification will expire in 1 or two years. Hospitals require it.
As long as you read over the book, and do the practice questions once or twice, you probably would be ok. Only you can know how you feel about the practice exams. :)
I wish you the best.

Kotoko,
Fun2Care is right, you really should go to one of the El Cnetro ADN information sessions. They give you lots of info, answer specific questions and give out an application packet/checklist for you to follow.
If you miss anything, no matter how minor, they WILL NOT consider you application. If it is past the due date, EC will not alllow you to add anything. They may not catch it in time to allow you a chance to get the missing item in. That would nullify your application. With so many applicants they are very strict and do not mess around.
The info sessions are actually very good. Pam Farley facilitated the two I attended and she is very helpful.
As I mentioned before, I don't think you'll need to study for the NET that much if you made an A in the math class. Just going through the book a few times *should* be enough -- although everyone is different.
The information sessions are great, but I honestly didn't learn anything new. But, I've been looking into this for awhile now, so I had already asked most of my questions :) The checklist is very handy and can be downloaded from the ECC nursing website.
I'm so paranoid that I will miss a step that I read that thing several times a day, it seems like -- lol!
Don't worry too much about the CPR class. I took one that was 1.5 hours and $40 so you should be able to find one to fit into your schedule. But, yes, like they said -- it is required!
I attended a Brookhaven information session, I don't think that counts though lol.
I do have the ECC application packet, a lady once gave it to me during one of our A&P I SI sessions. Looking at it now, there is definately alot more I have to do! (physical exam, cpr, net, and maybe some other stuff) I think I'll talk with the brookhaven advisor about it..
Thanks everyone, your help is definately appreciated.

Did you mean the El Centro advisor? These are two separate programs so make sure you go to the right people to get the correct information. Here's a link the El Centro info sessions. Good luck!!!

Wow...looks like everyone is doing alright. Sorry I haven't posted in a little while - I have just been busy tying up loose ends with my EC / NL application. Plus, I think I might have died and gone to heaven.
Well, at least you didn't die and go to hell....:chuckle What's up? Getting married, having a baby, win the lottery, let the elastic out of your undies????? :rotfl:

:rotfl: @ "let the elastic out of you undies" Funnie, you're in rare form! I think it's the 'new stuff' fumes coming off that 15th set of clinical outfits you bought or that new PDA (I'm so jealous!)
.... Amy's either got a man or chocolate....
Heck....euphoria from chocolate can't last that long. lol The man has had to get up to go to work already.
If she's still in Heaven....then it has to be a man. :lol2:

Jaxia is right, I'd want time to study more & retest, if needed.
I just called & reserved a spot, but that may not be allowed anymore. I'm sure they had people abuse it.
You have to have at least 50% on both sections in order to apply.
