Thanks, that is what I was thinking about it. I don't think I'm going to take it, but didn't want to feel like the "you don't care enough"-type student from the beginning by not taking it.... Understand?

:D

There were a lot of people at EC that did not take it and I think they were just fine. I think you will be more than okay!! :D

Oh, I just noticed this topic..excuse the other one I posted at >.

Right now I'm attending at Brookhaven and was gonna try out for their program..but..compared to ECC, I like ECC better :) I recently completed all but 2 classes, A&PII and Microbiology, and am going to apply at El Centro program for Spring 07 admission.

I will not be able to complete the Microbiology prior to application...will I still have a good chance at getting in? (I also got a B in Developmental PSYC..agh)

And is the NET test for El Centro JUST reading and math? (plus the stress, etc) As in, no A&P or science stuff? :0

Welcome! It's nice to meet you! :D

I am about to go into my 2nd semester at ECC.

I think you will be fine with your current support courses. As long as you at least have A&PII complete, I think you will be alright.

The competition changes each semester but from what you are saying, I think you will be fine.

The NET is just reading and math. They have a few personality questions but that's as extensive as it gets. I know they were talking about changing the entrance test format to include more A&P. I don't know if that has gone into effect yet though. They didn't discuss when it would.

I wish you the best of luck and you've come to the best place for support.

Hi and welcome to AllNurses.com, kotoko.

The cut-off has been around 4.0 or 3.77 for the pre-reqs.

You have a good chance, just try to get as much completed before the application, and definitely as much completed before you start. ;)

Good luck to you!

Thanks a bunch!

3.77..would that be 3 A's and 1 B?

Yes, but you have to have an A in A&P 1. (At least that's how it's been as far back as I know.)

For Fall '06, the cutoff was 3.77, but for Spring '06, the cutoff was 4.0. There were also 15 4.0 students that did not get in.

So, it's good to have as many of the support credits completed as you can, but so far, not all is needed if you have a 4.0.

Like was said earlier, the GPA requirements vary each application period. It all depends on who applies, and the GPAs at that time.

Yikes..15 4.0 students who didn't get in!!! How scary. Banane54.gif

Yeah, but I'm sure most of them didn't have any support courses completed. It does play a big part of getting accepted to ECC/NLC.

You will have a good chance, even with a B in Dev Psych. NLC's rate for Fall '06 was 3.77 with a 3.77 on 13 completed support credits.

However, for Spring '06 NLC's lowest accepted rank was 4.0 with a 2.5 on 6 completed support courses.

So, as you can see, it changes from one application period to the next. Spring '07 could be 3.5, but more than likely at least 3.77 on the pre-reqs. You never know though.

Thank you for your reply!

Recently I've been checking to see if I can find some decent information regarding the NET exam, but I will probably see if I can buy a study guide at a bookstore or something.

Since the filing period for Spring semester is August 31st, would it be ok if I take the test on, let's say, the 29th and still be able to turn in the application a-ok? :) (You get the results right after you complete the test correct?)

I definitely recommend getting the NET Study guide from EriWorld.com (look on Ebay or Half-Price books too.. It tells you exactly what to expect, and has 2 reading/2math practice exams. Most people are worried about the math, but really it's the critical thinking reading that gets people.

If you can take it on the 29th, they will give you a score sheet. Make a copy of it, but send the original with your application.

Make sure to call now for a test day.

If you got an A in the pre-req math, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with the NET test. The stuff on there is pretty basic. Personally, I'd take it earlier though -- JUST in case you need to take it again. They only offer the NET at certain times on certain days, so make sure it is available when you want to take it. Good luck and I hope we both make it for Spring 07 :)

Are you applying for Spring 2007 as well? Nice!

Just want to make sure something about the NET test..ECC just sees if you passed or not correct? Or do they compare the NET exam as well?

Ahh and I didn't realize I actually have to go to El Centro just to SIGN up..I thought that was only required when you are gonna go to take the test..
