Just got in and am here to tell you NYC is horrible! Blowing snow, ice, wind, it's like something out of a film out there. Driving into Manhatan from SI was *not* fun, even with 4WD! *LOL*
Anyone reporting to and or leaving duty tonight take care on the roads, and or trying to get on what is left of public transportation (LIRR is not running, MTA buses are literally stopped in their tracks all over the city, though from the news reports the subway is running mostly fine).
Oh, if you are reporting for duty there is a good chance you *may* be stuck there, so bring your *bag*! *LOL*
Merry Christmas/Happy Boxing Day

Be careful out there ladies and gents.. I can't imagine driving under those conditions. Major freezes here tend to shut the city down completely.

I go in tonight...we've got 7 inches on the ground, and d/t low temps (23 right now), it's going to be a sheet of ice, and I'm 20 miles away. Packing a bag to take, prepared to get stuck. You guys be careful out there...

Oh DoGoodThenGo! You have done just what your name says! I'd be grateful for someone like you playing guardian angel. I live in the midwest where it's just cold. BRRRRR! I really don't have anything to say. I've been a member for six months and this is the best I could come up with to post. Byeee!

In Connecticut here. So grateful I'm off for two days. I can't imagine how awful it must be out there. The wind is whipping around my house. Be careful folks!

CT here too. I had a co-worker cover my shift last night, and still debating on if I can make it today. Yesterday was my first shift I've ever missed and I feel terrible, so I have no idea what I'm going to do tonight. It's still snowing/windy in my town, and I haven't seen a plow on my hill since midnight . Ack, what to do! Hope everyone else is safe!!! :heartbeat

Virginia here. We were hit with 14 inches of snow. This area isnt used to weather like this, so it pretty much shut our area down. I spent 20 hours at work. 6 nurses and 6 cnas for a census of around 80. I had a kiddo suddenly take a very bad turn, and had to call 911 to try to get him to the hospital. The fire dept called back and said that they were bogged down with tons of calls and with the roads being absolutely horrible that they just couldnt come. there was no way we could even get out of parking lot with the lot being packed with snow and ice. I had to beg the fire chief to come get this kid, he was in resp distress. They came, took the child across the road to the hosp. I understand about them being bogged down with calls, I know they were busy all day and night b/c I heard the sirens on the main road. I just hope and pray that something like this never happens again! I am sooo glad to be off of work for the next 2 days. Caller id is my friend!!!!! The entire state of VA is under a state of emergency with the National Guard on duty.
