North Carolina Roll Call

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Hi, my name is Avery and I live in Greensboro NC where I have lived most of my life. I'm 21 and just waiting to hear back to see what nursing school I will be going to next year. I have my EMT but work as a CNA on a neuroscience unit at Moses Cone hospital. Keeping my fingers crossed about getting into the nursing programs.

Hi Avery,

I also live in Greensboro and have 4 more prereqs. to do. I'm currently taking A&P1 and communications at GTCC. What school are you trying to get into?

I am an Army National Guard Recruiter looking into how I can help someone achieve their Nursing Dreams (Although I think you and our public educators are way underpaid).

My Grandmother was in the nursing field, and I have taken sports med in HS, and am a qulified Combat Lifesaver (means I can give you an IV, and Asprin, and shove as much kerlex into your bullet hole as my big fingers will allow).

Don't think I would make too good a nurse because when I was going through my Combat Lifesaver Certification I almost forgot to remove the turniquite from my "Battle Buddies" arm and saw blood going toward the IV bag. Finally I figured it out around when the blood got half way up and undid the restrictor on the arm.

If anyone has questions about the Raleigh/Durham Area, I know the area REAL well since I recruit here. Would be glad to give an opinion on where to reside.

Hi everyone....

I have posted on allnurses a few times but have never introduced myself, how rude.

Anyway, HI I'M MO. :stone

Nice to meet everyone. I live near Lake Norman and have lived in the Charlotte area my entire life. I couldn't be more of a native unless I was a Native American! My ancestors landed on the Virginia coast in 1622, moved inland to the mountains, and we've been here ever since. That said, I'm very familiar with this area, especially the north and west sides.

If anyone wants ask anything about the schools or the hospitals or the neighborhoods or whatever, PM me.

Hi everyone,

New to NC, moved last summer from California. We love it here and are happy to call it home now. I'm in the process of applying to nursing school, should know within the next couple of months if I made it. My goal is to do RN to BSN, then become an NP in the future. This is a career change for me from the corporate world but I've wanted to be a nurse since I was a kid. I'm happy to finally be in a position to make it happen. Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself here, look forward to getting to know you all!

Thanks, Suebird, for making me aware of the NC forum!!

hey there! my name is candy. i live in monroe, nc and just received my acceptance letter for the may 2006 entry at mercy school of nursing in charlotte, nc. i am a 35 yr old mother of 2 kids ages 13 and 9 yrs and a wife of 14 yrs. i have been slowly getting all of my core classes behind me so that all i have left now is nursing 1-5 and microbiology. has there been anyone here that knows anyone that may have graduated from mercy? or are currently in their program? if so i'd like any help pointers on their program and what their instrucotrs are like. i have looked forward to this program for so long and have had a horrible experience at another nursing school nearby. i'd like to have a positive experience with mercy and look forward to any info i can get on them.:clown:
