Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
Hey all,
I am moving to Raleigh the first week of Dec. I am coming from a university-affiliated level one trauma center in Jacksonville, Fl (UF & Shands Jacksonville) where I was the Urology Team Coordinator/Leader (OR). I just was offered and accepted a position at WakeMed in Raleigh. Actually the Cary campus. Looking forward to a rewarding experience in NC, both work and life related. :)

welcome, jason, to the nc forum in response to your question, i do not know of any state that will allow a person to become an lpn or rn without graduation from an approved program (curricula with clinical hours).

]Hi - my name is Amy and I am, believe it or not, a local of Wilmington, NC. I say that because there are so few "locals" left in this town. I suppose that speaks volumes for our community right there. I am a new RN as of June, 2005. Because I am 40 years old, everyone assumes that I am an old nurse and that has been a hurdle in and of itself. After struggling to fit in an ICU float pool for 3 months, I finally found my home in our Medical Stepdown (PCU) Unit. I actually enjoy being a nurse now and I think I will hang in there for a while longer despite my original thoughts. I have enjoyed reading posts and visiting this website. Thanks to everyone who takes responsibility for the upkeep! :)
Hi all,
My name is Kathy and I live in Greensboro, NC. I'm still taking prereqs and have 4 more classes to do. Of course, 2 of them are the dreaded Anatomy and Physiology. Start my Anatomy class next week.
Question: Does anyone know of a website where I can study for the nurses entrance exam?

Hi all,
still trying to move to NC from Baltimore Maryland. Graduated fall 05, and interviewed for a job at forsyth in winston-salem, but it requires a 2 year contract. I am not sure about that. Is there any other hospital in the charlotte-winston salem area that does not require a 2 year contract?

Moses Cone hospital is in Greensboro which is about 20 minutes from Winston Salem. Moses Cone includes Womens Hospital, Wesley Long and Moses Cone. There is also a smaller hospital named Kindred (not sure of spelling) in Greensboro.
Also there's Baptist Hospital in Winston.
Good luck in your job search.
