How much more do you make with night differential?
I work 12-hour night shifts from 6am until 6:30pm at a for-profit rehab hospital, and receive a $6 per hour shift differential. How much more do you make with night differential?
The nursing homes in my area do not offer shift differentials for working evenings or nights. It's only the hospitals around here that offer any incentive to work the off-shifts.

3p - 11p is $1.00 on weekdays, and $2.50 on weekends for LVN

I'm an RN that works 11p - 7a Sunday through Friday, so 5.50 for Sunday night, and 3.50 for the rest of the week.
I'm a new grad, so that amounts to $28.50/hr on Sunday and $26.50 the rest of the week. I'm in Texas, so that's pretty good as most general hospitals are starting at $20 for new grads with $1.50/hr diff at night for 12hr shifts.
I've worked with a couple of different systems but currently I make $2 more an hour for working nights. It's a nice bonus that adds up but if I didn't prefer nights, it's not enough pay difference that I would make the switch just for that. Would love to be working somewhere that offered 50%! I'd be all over that!

Wow, I never realized there was such a huge difference in these! I guess all of the hospitals in my area pay about the same. (Well, actually they were all recently sued for it, so I know they do!) My hospital's differentials are as follows:
Weekday evenings are $3.75
Weekday nights are $4.75
Weekends (Friday 2300-Sunday 2300) add $4.25 to the above rates
Other hospitals in the area only differ by 50 cents or so from that.
I am curious, are the other's who have posted low differentials or none at all from different areas of nursing? Or just areas with a glut of people who want to work nights and weekends?
