i am new to this site, and i'm glad to find somewhere to talk about what is going on.
i'm 28, married, and have a 3 year old. i have just got my letter that said i got into the rn program that i applied for. :roll i've been going to school for a year now, and was on pins and needles waiting to see if i made it. i live in a very rual town in arkansas, and the school i applied to only lets 10 peolpe in every 2 years. i'll have to drive almost 2 hours to get to the school, but it is well worth it. i always wanted to be a nurse, but life just go in the way. now i'm going back after all these years, and getting that letter made it all feel like it was going to happen this time. i'm glad to have found this site, and good luck to all the other student nurses out there.

Hi Shenee!!!
Welcome to nursing, you have taken the first step into a world that can be both exciting and painful at times.
You will meet all kinds of people entering nursing, the compassionate ones who care about people, the ones who have nothing better to do, the ones who are only looking to make money and of course there are still the one's looking to marry a doctor!!!!!!!
Remember to remember you will not know it all, and to ask a question will help you and maybe save a pts life!
never feel afraid to interrupt and ask that question, to many times a new nurse will blunder through and hurt someone instead of asking a question afraid that they will look stupid!
Ive been a nurse for 7 years an RN and was a cna for along time
before that and have made my mistakes, but I have learned from them and dont do them again!
Remember you must put time aside to study and incorporate that knowledge and with a husband and child that will be difficult and the best way to do that is to sit down now with hubby and explain how important this is to you and make a schedule for school time and family time and share, and share! Because house work can wait, bills can be paid late but you and your family come first!
Love Annie
Shenee,
Welcome welcome welcome...
Congratulations on your acceptance to the nursing program!!!!
Why does the program only accept 10 students every 2 years???WOW...must have a limited number of faculty...
Anyway...glad you found this BB...have fun, and join in the conversations frequently...
Remember to laugh often....and be good to yourself...
Welcome Shenee! Congratulations on getting accepted into nursing school. Hey, I am sure you probably already thought of this but considering you have an almost 2 hour commute time you have to do. Have you thought about doing notecards on tape. I always do notecards on tape. They are like flashcards and on the tape you say for example, What does RICE mean? Then you would pause so you can think about it and then answer it RICE=Rest, Immobilization, Cold, Elevation.
