Hi everyone,
I accepted a school nurse position at an elementary school near me starting next school year. I am currently in patient Peds at a children's hospital and decided I needed the change for a better work/home balance with the kids. Definitely excited but nervous about this change. I have read through the site and you guys are so helpful and hilarious!!! Just wanted to say Hi!!!

I think you'll like the position. Plus going into it with your pedi experience you'll have the confidence to pick up all the institutional policies and environment quickly. I worked the floor at our pedi hospital for one shift many years ago, because I was forced to float there from the ER; no one showed up for work. I hated it. Welcome!!
I do know you!!
We went to nursing school together!

Hello! I'd say some advice might be: be ready to see ANYTHING. Bandaids and ice packs are magical tools. Frequent flyers usually need a little TLC, but don't let them take advantage! Schools are a very strange workplace. They don't fit the normal 'rules' of other workplaces, so be ready to be disoriented for a bit as you adjust. Find a mentor nurse to pal around with. Enjoy the kiddos!
