Hello Everyone, this is my first semester as a Nursing Student. I was thrilled when I was accepted. I was just wondering if there is any advice that could help me out for my first semester. I am nervous and overly anxious all at the same time!!!

Congrats. Nursing school is very time consuming. The best advice I can give you is manage you time effectively, especially in regards to any reading you may have to do. I try to read a little each day, so I'm not cramming before exams.

Maybe take an EMT course or a class on EKG readings would be helpful?

I start on Monday, I can not wait! Everyone tells me to let my husband know I have a new husband for 16 months and that his name is Nursing School.

The best advice out there is to disregard everything everyone is saying about nursing school. Don't get on the bandwagon with your classmates. Stop and be yourself. People complain and gripe about it much more than they should. Nursing students freak out over nothing. I swear the custodial staff could move the room's trash can and some of my classmates would get their undies in a bind and assume it's some attempt to fail them.
I second the EMT class suggestion. It'd be nice for you to see how the other half lives. You can take care of patients without whigging out all the time.

Congratulations on getting into a nursing program.
My advice would be: get organized, read a little everyday. I am a morning person, so i get most of my stuff done before 2pm when it comes to reading. At night, i write my flashcards or other stuff. Time management really is the key.
Make sure you do make time for yourself every once in a while. Nursing school is tough but it is doable. Your instructors are there to help them...use the tutoring service if you have to. They all want you to graduate..
Good luck, and you will be just fine. Its an exciting time....
