Medical words that make you cringe.
I get grossed out when things are described as "cheesy" in my textbook. Yuck..

Pet Nurse?!
- I never said it was easy. I'm sure it is very hard and stressful and alot of information. I just don't think the two should be compared. That's all. I don't compare myself to a Vet Tech program student. I admire Vet Techs..I couldn't do it! I love animals :)

Anybody NOT feel like it's taking over?
Study every day. Even if its just rereading or listening to lectures after you get home. Don't get behind! I only read what the professors tell us to read also. Or if I dont understand I dig a little deeper. Take breaks within studying..it helps me focus. I disagree with the study group comment though. If you can find a good group then they are wonderful. We set ground rules for our groups though so it all depends on how you like to study. But overall..stay organized and study. You'll do fine and enjoy it!

Pet Nurse?!
Ugh, my friend is trying to get into Vet Tech school (yes there is a school..you dont have to go though haha). She LOVES to compare what she does to what I do in actual nursing school. So annoying.

How do you let a friend know a nursing position isn't what she thinks it is?
Just tell her that you love her and are looking out for her. I had a friend who was in a similar situation and I just told her the truth. Its hard but she needs to know this stuff if she doesnt know it already. Tell her to do some more research also if she still doesnt understand. Good luck.

I am truly frustrated, please help...Critical thinking Quest.
Ask yourself questions as you're reading. It helps you apply what you're reading. Take tons of NCLEX and chapter questions. Rationalize through each question you do and talk it out. Join a study group, I LOVE mine and we work awesome together. Go speak to your professor. Our professors say if its not "clicking" then go talk to them and they can try and figure out whats wrong. When taking your test, cover the answers. It helps you understand the question without getting distracted by the answers. Underline the question and focus on what its asking. Highlight or circle key words (best or first, etc.). I hope this helps. Good luck!

Weather Cancellations
Hello fellow Nursing Students! I have a quick question. We've been hit hard with ice/snow and the roads have about an inch or two of ice and it's not suposed to get above freezing till late Friday. My school (and tons for that matter lol) has been closed since Tuesday. This means we've missed a total of almost 5 hours of lecture and 3 hours of skills lab. Friday isn't looking too promising either. Has anybody else experience this much weather cancellations in nursing school? Our professors keep telling us to relax and stay warm but it's hard to not start panicing over how much we've missed. Thank you!

Fundamentals of Nursing
I just finished my second week of nursing school and have my first test on Monday so I might not be too much of help. But we did have a test taking lecture on friday and they gave us some great tips on how to take a nursing test: - Underline the question. Find out what the question is asking and underline it. - Highlight the key words. Ex: best, early, first, immediately. - Cross out the distracters. - Circle the issue or the event. Avoid asking you self.."well, what if?" Focus ONLY on the information in the question and read EVERY word and make a decision about what the question is really asking. Read EVERY answer choice. Trust yourself, don't second guess your answers. Get Fundamentals Success by Nugent and Vitale. Its great so far. Good luck to you and everybody else!!

Does anyone take supplements to stay healthy?
Good question. I'm wondering the same thing! I start on Wednesday and I take just a daily multivitamin and echinacea for immune system. But I would like to hear what everybody is doing to stay healthy.
