Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!
If the NM BON advised you to register and you did, your ATT will be sent to you via e-mail (if your provided yours to them) in about three weeks most probably because that's what happened to me. Because before they could issue one an ATT, I think that they still have to do a criminal background check on each applicant. So only after that can they send you an ATT. Hope this helps.
How many days does it usually take NM BON to issue ATTs? Ive applied at Pearsonvue already and its been 2 weeks & I havent received my att yet?thanks & it would be a great help.
hello... another question again:
can you help me please? i'm a foreign student. i have a question for the nm fingerprinting instruction changes. i got my fp cards from the us embassy here and i already went to nbi for the fingerprinting. but then, a new instruction coordinates the fingerprinting tracking directly to the fbi.
who may request a copy of record
(or proof that a record does not exist)
only the subject of the identification record can request a copy of his own fbi identification record.
how to request a copy of record
2. obtain proof of identity, which consists of a set of your fingerprints
(original card, no copies), with your name, date of birth and place of
birth. fingerprints should be placed on a standard fingerprint form
(fd-258) commonly used for applicant or law enforcement purposes.
3. include $ 18 - u.s. dollars in the form of a money order, certified check
made payable to the treasury of the united states, or you may pay by
4. mail the items #1, #2, #3 (listed above) to the following address:
fbi cjis division - record request
1000 custer hollow road
clarksburg, west virginia 26306
------
question: so we need to print the cover letter, notarize it (someone here told me but i can't see the instructions telling us that it needs to be notarized) then send the fingerprint cards to the fbi address above and pay the additional $31?
thanks in advance!

don't use the above instructions since they are specifically designed for fbi. use nm bon instructions. you will be needing only the two copies of fps.
here's their website for nm bon: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/index.html
here's the complete application packet: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/examapp.pdf
here's the nm bon-specific criminal background check packet: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/fingerprintinginstructions(2).pdf
here's a note for non-us grads:

please, just click and download above pdf files and read them from page one to the last. also visit nm bons website and click all clickable links. read them throughly since you will surely learn a lot.

Oh, this is new to me:
Here's the NM BON-specific Criminal Background Check Packet: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/FingerprintingInstructions(2).pdf
thanks for this.
About the FBI site, I went there because on the NM BON site, there's an instruction & direct link to go there about the fingerprinting card. So that means that I will totally not obey that instruction in the NM site and just follow this?

hi guys...im also a foreign applicant to the NM BON, ive completed my application form and im going to send it along with the transcript evaluation...
question 1
im hwew in manila and wondering if the NBI in Taft avenue has a technician the is accepted by the NM BON?
#2
all in all, how much payment wil i give?
is it 50$ for the transcript evaluation + 160 for the NM BON. + and 31 for the NM DOS ??
#3
after i send it thru a courier, wil i folow up with them thru email?
thanks for everything..this thread is a real lifesaver...
1. you don't go to nbi taft. the main clearance center is now in carriedo near quiapo church. be there before 8 a.m., look for the nbi building along carriedo, go to the upper floor (5th or 6th floor, IRD room) sign in the logbook, tell the personnel that you need to have fingerprinting for application for a US license for nurses and you will use a US fingerprint card. you will be given a piece of paper that you will bring to the lower floor where the fingerprinting will be done, then ask for the the NBI fingerprint technician authorized for the purpose. you will be guided by the NBI personnel. most likely, there will be other US licensure applicants there like you. just be there before 8 a.m. don't forget to have one of the NM forms signed by the fingerprint technician (read the forms). you write the other details in the form.
the TOR (with RLE) must come to the bon directly from your school. you don't include it with your application form.
i understand that the $160 for the bon already includes the $50 transcript evaluation fee. double-check the forms/instructions.
for the DPS, separate payment of $31. use bank draft.
per bon's instruction, email follow-up only after 60 days from bon's receipt of application. lacking documents will delay the process.
reading the previous pages here can give you more info. Also, the bon's website and the licensure forms in the website.

You can reinstate a lapsed license upon completion of the BON's requirements. But each State has a rule for that and it can be usually found in their website. But note that you cannot endorse an expired license, it has to be active and current for you to be able to do that. The NM license (like any other license from any US State) is endorsable provided you are able to comply with that other State's requirement. For example, in NJ, to endorse a license you have to have a CES done (find out more about it in the CGFNS website), TOEFL, payment of fee to Nursys to verify your license, a completed application form with picture, and an application fee of $195, in addition, you need to have a fingerprinting done through Sagem Morpho (they have a website) or you can ask for fingerprint cards only if you are an out-of-state applicant and they also require an SSN---if you can comply with all these requirements then you can endorse your license. I haven't read or heard of anything that states that one should work within a year of passing the NCLEX. I think that what they could possibly mean by that is: keep your license current all the time. Also, I do not see in CA's website that one has to have a nursing work experience before he/she can endorse---not unless an agency is asking you to do this. The NM BON usually issues ATTs quick. When a file has been inactive for a year, it will be discarded and you have to apply and pay all the fees all over again. Also, an ATT is only valid for three months, if you do not test, you lose your money. If you prolong testing, then it defeats the purpose on why you applied to NM because as I've earlier stated they issue ATTs quickly most often. I will not also advice waiting for a very long period of time before testing---first, you might forget the first couple of chapters that you studied because you have waited too long and second and most important of all, if the laws change (and the BON can do that anytime) and the NM BON suddenly decides to follow the other US states' requirement, that they will only issue "actual hard plastic licenses" to applicants who have an SSN, then you might get caught in between. Answer to your Question number 5 can be found on this thread. Good luck on your NCLEX exams!
