I am starting in September I figured it would be nice to start a thread where all of us new students could come and and share our experiences/help eachother out as we are on our way to be nurses :)
Hi,
I am starting school on 4/8 at CCTS. I see I may have a fellow classmate on here. I am just about ready, still awaiting a few books to be delivered....
Just starting my search for white scrubs and believe me this is no easy task... I mean I have found stores that carrry them but for the price and quality (too sheer) you can see the pockets right through them. I am still on the hunt. Funny, how an assumed easy task always seems to become a bit complicated.
I am filled with anxiety as the first day of school approaches....
Would like to wish every one some luck and remember to stay focused!:)
Congratulations DJandKMommy and JerseyN! I believe I may be your classmate JerseyN, I just got my last delivery of books today (though I think I might send a study guide back for missing waay to many pages). Your right about the white scrubs, I ordered some online, but bought two pairs at best uniform, incase my online ones don't get her intime. I'm getting sooo nervous for class, just a few more days!!
i just got my acceptance phone call this afternoon!!!i'm so excited to be starting may 4th!!!
hey everyone!i start april 13th and am excited, scared, nervous.....running the whole gamut of emotions here! i'll be working fulltime too while in school. it's going to be hard work but i can do this! we all can do this! congrats to everyone!
hi all - i'm new to this thread - not sure how i missed it lol! i'm starting a full time lpn program in september. i will be taking a&pi and a&pii over the summer to help lighten the load a bit. my long term plan is to hopefully bridge to the rn program starting in september 2011. we'll see how that all goes :-).we already had our orientation (seems early compared to lots of the posts) so we know that we have to wear white scrub pants and coat with hunter green tops. i don't think we have to wear scrubs on our non-clinical days but thanks to the thread i will now know to check on that!
so much great info here - i definitely will be running out to get flashcards and a nclex book right away. i've been out of school for so long (20 years) any head start can only help!
i do know my schedule for first semester will be something like this:
mon - clinical day 7-3
tues - fundamental of nursing 8:30 - 11:30 then most likely a math course that i need to take
wed - clinical day 7-3
tues - fundamental of nursing 8:30 - 11:30 and math
fri - throughout the semester we take 4 (1) credit courses - growth & development, human behavior (i get a pass on this because i took psych in my early college career), nutrion and microbiology
second semester is very similar but friday's will be free day and i won't need anything other than my nursing courses and clinical.

congratulations to you all!!!
update: this week went well! the first day (wednesday) we were bombarded with information regarding drug screens, background checks, immunizations, uniforms, etc. i felt so overwhelmed! actually most of the students did...you should've seen our faces. :uhoh21: for those of you who haven't started, save some money for the cost of getting all of these things taken care of! after finding out my class and clinical schedule...and making arrangements for my son to get to school i felt much better.
i am learning my instructors' personalities, as well as my classmates, and i think this quarter will be challenging, but great! i am really enjoying fundamentals and will fully dive into drug cal next week.
cooking meals ahead of time and staying organized helps a lot!!!
please continue to share your experiences, i really enjoy reading them. :)
I've been feeling like a human pincushion lately with the immunizations lol! I also need to get my CPR course finished in May - then I think I'm off the hook until September. I fully intend to try to enjoy this summer to the fullest - lots of relaxing at the beach and smutty books :wink2:
