Got my ATT to take NCLEXPN! Study advice?
after more than a month of waiting to get my att, i'm finally authorized to test, and all of a sudden i'm beginning to panic a little. It took me THREE times for me to pass the hesi in order to graduate and i'm worried that it will take me a ton of times to pass the NCLEX, does anyone have any particular study techniques, or study groups in the Hampton Roads area? I NEED to pass the first time, i can't afford 200 bones for a retake..

WHY can't this PN grad land a Job?!
Flames: you're right and have a point, I just wish that they would put that on the job description you know? Lunah: i am still waiting for the paperwork, it's been a month and i haven't gotten anyhthing. I got a job working privately for a family so that will have to do i guess on the bright side I'll be getting more experience? I'm sorry to you guys for sounding abrupt and upset, i've been out of work for more than a year and for me to not getting any responses is really getting to me. my savings can only last so long before i become a burden. you two have a point though, i'll just wait and HOPE and work at passing th efirst time so i can get on with it

WHY can't this PN grad land a Job?!
I graduated this past June from a PN program and waiting to take my boards. I haven't been able to find a job at all. AT ALL. I'm not even gettin ga phone call and I'm getting really frustrated. I applied to those accepting new grads and same thing. In fact, I applied to everything, home care, health aid, receptionist...nothing. I'm really worried that I won't get a job and I can only rely on my savings for so long. is anyone having the same issues in the hampton roads area? i'm getting frustrated and feel beatdown and that my hard work was for nothing. anyone have any advice as to whereelse to look and how to deal?

Fortis College
hey jmartinez, Fortis college has changed with the DON switch since I started. I'm hoping that it's because of the high turnover rate that our class had it rough. However, I doubt it. the new one is not the most helpful/compassionate/nice/professional. i would have notebooks, binders, whichever you prefer for study utensils. Also, we got our nclex study books really late so you might want to get the blue kaplan book. unfortunately, pretty much ALL my GREAT instructors have left so I can't assure you will have good instructors. I wish i had better information for you . i just graduated yesterday and I'm very glad i left. But it is similar to MCI and lpn is 15 months...lpn to adn is 16 months. hope this helps and good luck with the classes! if you want anymore info let me know~!

Hesi Exit Exam-RN exit exam
I failed the first time I took the hesi and I agree, the pressure you have with taking it does not help at all. I realize that I read the quesitons wrong sometimes and the distractors get me. I have the nclex elsevier book and the kaplan book. i have been reading the kaplan book and taking the tests on the green book. I have heard not to study the night before, just relax. also, when you get in the room and you're given a scratch piece of paper to write your labs down so when you're stressing out, you won't have to worry about getting the labs wrong. good luck on your next hesi AMiller5 and let us know how you do!I hope this helps a little? i'm hoping to pass the hesi next time around. i need it to graduate ps. any other advice would be appreciated!

Norfolk State University 2nd Degee Nursing Program
I'm graduating from an LPN program in a couple of months and I'm looking into getting into their accelerated program for second degree in nursing. Are you still in school and are your thoughts the same? I'm hoping to schedule a meeting with the DON and get my prereqs out the way.

Looking for an LPN DoD or VA job- Know any websites?
The thought of joining the military or national guard has crossed my mind but I'm a little hesitant. It's probably because I need to do more research. Since I have a degree I know that I can go in as an officer, but I want to be able to go to school for my RN. Also, don't you need to be able to pass their physical training tests? I'm not in as much shape as I should be.

Looking for an LPN DoD or VA job- Know any websites?
I will be graduating in June and I'm starting to look at some jobs. I have a Bachelor's in the communications/marketing field and am graduating from an LPN program. I want to work if possible with the VA, DoD or anything working with the government. Does anyone have a good places to look? I know it may be a long shot but I figured there's nothing wrong with applying.
