  1. It's seems like your using a lot of good study techniques. You have to remember that with AP it all builds on eachother. I actually will go into my room and "teach myself" by talking aloud as if I'm teaching someone else. That seems to help me. If the first unit is the basic, like cell, basic chemistry stuff, I wouldn't stress about it too much. But if it's bones or muscles or something I would review it again to grasp it better. Eventually it will at click, and you will use the information your studying at some point so it is not a waste of time. Hang in there, You can do it!!!!!!!
  2. I highly recommend the Essential Atlas of Anatomy by barrons...they have a separate one for anatomy and for physiology. It's a small book, but explains everything with excellent pictures. Theres also website like www.getbodysmart.com that have interactive games that may help you. Obviously this post is late for the test you had on the 2nd but maybe it will help you down the road.
  3. Hey Everyone! I just finished my first full week of classes and it's intense. We have class 8-3, with an hour for lunch and 15 minute breaks between each hour long class. So the day is broken up really well and it goes pretty fast. Word to the Wise, if you have your books start reading ahead now, because your gonna have so much information coming to you all at once. We had 2 tests this week (I got a 97 on my first exam, took the other one today) and next week we have 4 exams scheduled, so far. Also, stock up on Notecards, Highlighters, Mechanical Pencils and Black Pens (we aren't allowed to use blue at our school). Get yourself into a good study routine early on and exchange numbers with your classmates, your gonna need eachother. Good Luck Everyone!!!
  4. Hi Everyone! I had my first day today. We really only did basic stuff : went over our student handbook, met our teachers, learned our daily schedule, got our badges to wear on campus and met our fellow classmates. We also had a visit from the LPN students who are graduating this year from our program, so they gave us some pointers. Tomorrow we are getting syllabus' and we're gonna finish going over our handbook and stuff. Teachers seem great, classmates are all friendly, so a pretty successful day.
  5. Just curious, what school in NJ are you attending?
  6. Thanks for sharing Nccatim. Here are some good websites to use for A&P - getbodysmart.com and innerbody.com. I have only had a two people tell me not to "Waste my time" becoming an LPN, or that LPN program is really hard and I should be a CNA instead. Let me also add that those two people went into college initially wanting to be nurses, one dropped out and one couldn't get into the program - the crab effect, like JerseyN said. Bcskittlez - That's awesome! Thanks for telling us!
  7. I plan on arriving too. I know what building we are in, but have no idea where the classroom is, so I'm giving myself extra time to find it. I am definitely interested in a study group and I'm sure others will be interested too. I do love the fact that we have off all next week. I really just want to get my hands on the class syllabus' and get a study plan in action.
  8. JerseyN - I'm having the same issue with my books, are you bringing the study guides to class too? I can't imagine needing them for class, but am debating on if I should bring them just in case. Just 1 more day - Can't wait!
  9. Fwardlaw - it's gonna be here before you know it!! I start Wednesday, so I've been trying to get everything together so I'm as prepared as I can be. I only have like 3 more things I want to pick up before class starts, so my goal is to do that today. I read the first chapter of each of my books, to try to get a head start and see how each book is laid out. Tomorrow and Tuesday I plan on just relaxing and picking up any last minute things that I think of. My logic is the more prepared I am, the less stressed/nervous I am. (though, I'm still really nervous haha)
  10. Congratulations nccatim! Good Luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes!!
  11. Congratulations DJandKMommy and JerseyN! I believe I may be your classmate JerseyN, I just got my last delivery of books today (though I think I might send a study guide back for missing waay to many pages). Your right about the white scrubs, I ordered some online, but bought two pairs at best uniform, incase my online ones don't get her intime. I'm getting sooo nervous for class, just a few more days!!
  12. You can do it Jlebnz!!! I'm almost done getting all my stuff, I plan on having everything ready by Monday so I can have 2 days to relax before I start on Wednesday...ahh so scared! Oh and girls...about the white underwear, I read on one of these threads it's better to wear nude underwear under white scrubs.
  13. I decided to become a LPN because I couldn't start at any of the Nursing Schools in my area until next Spring. By then I will be almost done the LPN program. Also, it's not as competitive around here to go for the LPN to RN bridge program, which I plan on doing as soon as I'm finished getting my LPN. Plus, I will have the option to work as an LPN while in school for my RN (maybe even have my work pay for me to get my RN).
  14. Welcome to the thread EllieNix. Maybe you friend can still help you, maybe just pointers and stuff. Will you have the same teachers? My sister and I have a similar situation. I start April 8th at one school and she starts June 26th at another. (I actually end June 18th for summer and return in September, while she will go through the summer). Keep us updated on everything!!!
  15. Congratulations Leslie and Enchantress and Everyone Else!!!!! Good Luck tonight Hopeful!!!!!
