New LPN students to start soon !! Come share your experiences :)

Published

I am starting in September I figured it would be nice to start a thread where all of us new students could come and and share our experiences/help eachother out as we are on our way to be nurses :)

:yeah:Congrats to all of you future nurses.. I do not know any of you but i still have to say that i am very proud and happy for all of you. I am halfway done with my LPN program and i must say it takes a lot of hard work and determination but it is absolutely do-able. Please dont get discouraged!!! and make sure you STUDy STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY.......

I am currently in the medical surgical nursing 2 phase and i found that those practice nclex-pn cd's helped me out a lot because as you all may have heard on orientation day that all of the test questions that you will get from now on will be nclex based and believe they are all critical thinking type of questions. The way i see it when its time for me to take the boards i will already have a heads up about the nature of questions i might be asked. anyway i am getting way ahead of myself. again congratualtions to all of you. and i wish you all the best.:nurse:

This is an awesome thread. I am also happy to see a few fellow TTC people here. I start TTC @ Dickson on May 4th.

Thanks for all the advice on reading. I questioned all the LPNs on my job that were happy to share their knowledge, and most all of them wished they had A&P, Pharmacology, and Medical terminology flash cards prior to attending class. So, I went and got some.

Good luck to everyone. *sprinkles nursing dust*:yeah:

I really appreciate you posting. It's so good to see someone halfway through and not discouraged..:yeah:

FWARDLAW - Now I want to go find some flashcards lol..

Grats again everyone!

first and foremost, congratulations to you all!!!

i have not posted here in a while because i did not get into the program i was trying to get in. (2006)

i was accepted into the emt-intermediate program at the same school so i focused on that for a year. (2007-2008) and i graduated just in time to hear service jobs were being cut. i realized there was a lot of bs going on with the school's nursing program... and heard about another program further away. i enrolled there and finished my last pre-req wednesday...

i was notified friday that i was accepted into the lpn program!!! :yeah:

i am so excited. i've been wanting this for so long. i have to register tuesday and class starts wednesday (april 1st) and our orientation is that day after class. i will keep you all posted!

again, congratulations to everyone and if anyone is reading this while in limbo...never let go of your dream!!! :)

Hi Y'all,

I start in June '09. I was suppose to begin this past Feb with a friend (she got in because she had everything submitted before me, like a couple of weeks; I decided after she did to do it so she had a head start) but got bumped out because my school was bought out by another and they wanted to include some of "their" students! I was so angry!!! She got to start without me. :crying2: Now, our programs are totally different because hers is under the original school whereas mine is the first since the merger and is now under a new school's direction/curriculum. I had everything completed but one thing..a test. Anyway, so enough of that, I begin in June. I am very excited but very nervous. I have a degree as a paralegal but chose not to use it (it's complicated). So...I am excited and super ready to move on with it. I used to be a STNA/CNA. I am initially doing LPN then ADN, then BSN. I am excited!

Welcome to the thread EllieNix. Maybe you friend can still help you, maybe just pointers and stuff. Will you have the same teachers?

My sister and I have a similar situation. I start April 8th at one school and she starts June 26th at another. (I actually end June 18th for summer and return in September, while she will go through the summer).

Keep us updated on everything!!!

Hey guys!!

Last night was kind of boring!! My teacher was talking about stuff that had nothing to do with what we were supposed to be learning!! I have a test Monday on the first 4 chapters. :coollook: It shouldnt be too bad. Its on stuff I already learned like cells and med terms!

Def brush up on basic med terminology...I did and it helped alot!!..Also read up on some basics of chemistry too..

[color=#4f81bd]mom2cassidy: gosh! i pray that white scrubs are not in my future too. i think i have to wear them for the clinicals, but so far only solid colors were mentioned at the information session. i cannot stand wearing the white scrubs. they tend to look dingy no matter how often you clean them and i don’t feel like having the patience guessing what color underwear that i am wearing either. oh no! that means only white underwear. oh well, atleast i still have a lpn program to attend. as a matter of fact, bring on the tidy whities! yippy! *mental note: must not drink so much caffeine prior to posting*

[color=#c0504d]prospective2010lpn: thanks for the nclex-pn study questions idea. i think i will try to score some of those too. i’m sure we all appreciate your well wishing. congrats on entering med surg 2.

[color=#9bbb59]lesliemadren: hooray! you got your letter!

[color=#8064a2]bcskittlez: lol. i just love flashcards.

[color=#c0504d]

[color=#c0504d]enchantress: thank you for sharing your acceptance story. i find it inspiring how you did not give up. tomorrow is show time for you. i’m so excited for you and the rest of us about to start. i am swimming in a sea of electricity.

[color=#f79646]

[color=#f79646]hopeful10: wow, you do have a full plate. you can do it. i was told over and over again that i should not work if i can help it. i met many nurses and non-nurses who washed out when trying to attempt such a feat. fortunately, they were the minority of nurses i questioned. it won’t be easy. there will be sacrifice, but we can do it. also, thanks for the tips. i am definitely gonna whip out my flashcards tonight.

[color=#7f7f7f]ellienix05: congrats on getting in june. i am so happy for you. i was supposed to start with two friends, but they could not attend the mandatory information session and got bumped out. they are wonderfully intelligent and compassionate people. i hope they follow your lead and not be disheartened and continue trying to get into the next class.

congratulations leslie and enchantress and everyone else!!!!! good luck tonight hopeful!!!!!

thanks!!! :)

the reality didn't hit me for a few days. i guess that's due to me trying for so long, it's surreal. i looked at my booklist today and i was shocked at how many textbooks i need for fundamentals. omg i am so nervous, but super excited too! :D
