I am starting in September I figured it would be nice to start a thread where all of us new students could come and and share our experiences/help eachother out as we are on our way to be nurses :)
Well, I have orientation in May, I am also excited and I want to go out and buy all these things lol! But I am going to wait until orientation maybe once you start in April you can see what other students are doing with stethescopes and all. I have a few big handbags made for books from when I was in college I will use those I think! GOodluck!!!! :redpinkhe
At orientation I got a book list for my first 3 months (i bought them all on amazon). For scrubs, we can wear any kind for now as long as they are solid white, then in june we get measured for our offical scrubs. I have a Littman already, so I'll be using that. I haven't figured out shoes or back pack.
For organization, I have a large desk, and I just cleaned out everything last night. I have extra notebooks and pens and stuff. I need to get a big desk calender still.
I'm about to go shop for my BPC, a watch and we will see what else I find.
So excited!!!
Just an FYI, Walmart sells Littman Stethescope sets with the BP cuff and bag for 109! (online)
RCH85 - Your school sounds like mine, that was one of the reasons I chose this one LOL. I liked being able to choose my own scrubs, but we do have the standard white one's for clinical rounds.
BIKRGRL - I can't wait to hear an update!
This is an awesome thread. I am also happy to see a few fellow TTC people here. I start TTC @ Dickson on May 4th.
Thanks for all the advice on reading. I questioned all the LPNs on my job that were happy to share their knowledge, and most all of them wished they had A&P, Pharmacology, and Medical terminology flash cards prior to attending class. So, I went and got some.
Good luck to everyone. *sprinkles nursing dust*
I am so happy I found this site!! Since I still have over a month to go I am taking everyones advise and am gong to brush up now. I am headed to the library today!
According to my school handbook, 4 sets of scrubs with the schools name (no idea about the color yet, I'm hoping they aren't white!)and a stethoscope are including. I guess I will know more when I go to orientation next month. Can't wait!
GL to everyone starting!
:yeah:Congrats to all of you future nurses.. I do not know any of you but i still have to say that i am very proud and happy for all of you. I am halfway done with my LPN program and i must say it takes a lot of hard work and determination but it is absolutely do-able. Please dont get discouraged!!! and make sure you STUDy STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY.......
I am currently in the medical surgical nursing 2 phase and i found that those practice nclex-pn cd's helped me out a lot because as you all may have heard on orientation day that all of the test questions that you will get from now on will be nclex based and believe they are all critical thinking type of questions. The way i see it when its time for me to take the boards i will already have a heads up about the nature of questions i might be asked. anyway i am getting way ahead of myself. again congratualtions to all of you. and i wish you all the best.

Yay to all of us! I start on April 27th! I am so excited and nervous as well! This will be a good supportive site for all of us. Great idea. I'll keep you posted once I start.
We have the same start date! Where will you be going? I have been researching this site like a mad woman trying to learn all I can!
:)

My teacher told me not to buy that stuff because everything has to be exactly the same! I have been setting up a good place to study. I think now is the best time to get organized.
