tired of the board of nursing in MD
Well it must be a state license thing. Georgia Board of Nursing is no better. Passed my boards in April and my application is still pending. It is about worst as watching paint dry with boards of nursing.

How do you complain about the Georgia Board of Nursing? I passed the NCLEX on the 20 April, 2010....the results for the test were recieved by the Georgia Board of Nursing on the 28th. They keep stalling because of misdeamnors on my background. Any advice?

Hey Latric3, The grades vary from 4.0 to 3.7. I got in with students who took one class at a time and made "A"s the whole entire time. My course load consisted of 3 classes in which I made 2-As and a B. But the list to get in any of these nursing programs is hellacious and they change every quarter. Certain teachers only want a total of 20 students, but your class will usually spill over with 24-28 students because students who have failed out the previous quarters are given an oppurtunity to get back in after jumping therough a couple of hoops!!!! Where are you trying to get in at: Thomson, Augusta, Waynesboro??????? If you are one of the guys who is stuck on keeping a straight A average, you can manage but I would not be a sticklery about that once you get into the program!

hi pegasus65, i just read yur message. that is crazy!!!! i am in my thrid quarter here and wroking hard toward finishing this quarter and moving on to the next. our teacher keeps stressing about anything on our background checks....she is saying if there is anything there, we need to write a letter and gather proper documents to go along with it when we get ready to apply for the nclex. there is one student who graduated last quarter and they have yet to let her sit for the nclex.......i think it dealt with a dui, child endargement, and stuff dealing with a divorce. i am wondering, are they looking at stuff you have been charged with, went to court and was found not guility or the stuff that is actual on your background check.....we had to do one for clinicals at this big hospital. i have a couple of misdemenors that were remedied with cash fines being paid (15-16 yrs ago).....do you think i need to worry about these. i can honestly say they were not drug related in any way!!!!!

Congratulations!! Just to make it out of class and graduate is a huge accomplishment. We loss 3 people from my first quarter calss.....two didn't pass and one just quit for one reason or another. The other LPN class that is ahead of us is taking a beating too. I think they lost some people due to finals. I just don't know what in the world to think right now! I don't know about the other campuses, but I have already been told that our program is tougher than the other 2 campuses.....I don't know whether to be grateful or scared. Do you have a date for your boards yet? I feel the same way....like a fish out of water. There is some work we have do over the break for upcoming classes but I have already got most of that work done. Did you have to write out or be familiar with the top 200 drugs? I am still working on those, but they were not like a requirement, but I am typing them out to be somehat in my mine. Let me know how things are going with the NCLEX. Keep in touch

Want to be a unit secretary
Hi There! The key word and what they are looking for is "experience." And not just experience in the medical field, but some customer service skills. If you volunteer within that hospital or another medical facility, you have just increased your chance for hire by 45%.....and this is true! I work at a hospital where students who have interned come back and volunteer and later on get a job! The unit secretary will orientate you to what you need to do as a ward clerk and every facility differs about their particular duties. But if you have some customer service skills, some Microsoft-keyboarding skills and an insite into the medical field.....you've got all the material to get a job. Probably what is happening is that these hospitals are doing internal hiring and not offering much to the outside world. Plus you have students in nursing, radiology, etc. that are willing to work prn (as needed) and probably sharing alot of the ward clerk duties. The last prn job I had was sec/tech----that I was a unit clerk + patient care tech.......might be what these facilities want....a hybrid professional. Going through the medical assistant course, prepares you for ANY medical facility...both front and back office. ACLS is usually for nurses as it is more advanced life saving skills. I took MA back in 1997 and go hired in both hospitals and doctors' offices without a problem since then. Try volunteering, it is free and you will learn alot about the job you are interested and acquire skills. Good luck and let me know if need any help!!!

Yeah, this is our very first quarter here at Thomson. We have 26 students to date, which includes to that started 2 quarters ago and got back in-----luckily!!!!! We have some winers already, but when should we we get the ATI passwords and code----we got our books two weeks ago!:angryfire If this is something that I need to concentrate some time too, it looks like we should have already got them by now:uhoh3:! There is a study guide that she is now giving us that is geared toward the actually test.....it seems to work....or at least it did last week.....I'll see tomorrow for the 3rd test. I think some of the complaining got back top her and she made a few comments today, but I feel that we were dealt a little messed up "hand"...here we all are....our very first quarter and we get a teacher who has never taught before. She sometimes covers things and zooms over them going 100 in a 25:lol2:! I want to do good and pass....we have a little study session in class after we are dismissed going over the study guide and quizzing each other....I group number about 10. I work evenings at Eisenhower, but that may change in a few months as they redo our floor for the next 12 months.....can you say/pray unemployment......at least that is what I am hoping for. We have two clerks who work days on the ICUs and me and another lady work evening shifts. When we temporarily combine, too many indians not enough work. Studying at work is not too bad, I get it when every I can....between admissions and phone calls. Which VA is the worst....uptown or downtown?....DDEAMC won't usually take LPNs without experience...except if you are working at the outlining clinics do physicals? Congratulations on graduating!!! Thanks for your help.....I pray it all works out.:monkeydance:

Want to be a unit secretary
All that should be sufficient. I can't understand why they haven't called. I have seen people hired with some office expereience, no medical background or CNA with no office experience. Is there any chance of getting finacial aide and doing something like medical office assistant or LPN? I did MA about 12 years ago, paid for phlebotomy outta of pocket and now in LPN school. Paying the then $650 for phlebotomy class paid off, I got a job right out of the 6 week course while I was still in school for MA. Phlebotomy is part of the MA course, but I wnated to get a job quick way before finishing school for MA. Sometimes investestments do work out. Is there any other part of the hospital offereing unit secretary? Maybe it is the way your resume is worded or maybe you are competing against others that have some medical background? \ Don't give up......keep trying!!!!

Want to be a unit secretary
I am a unit secretary at a military base. Everything you have is okay. Do you have any expereience in Microsoft Office or any thing like that? What got me in the door, was I became a medical office asssitant (MA). Just keep reapplying....alot of the hospitals here in Georgia like to multi-task individuals-----unit clerk/patient care tech. Keeping trying:D
