I am starting in September I figured it would be nice to start a thread where all of us new students could come and and share our experiences/help eachother out as we are on our way to be nurses :)
fwardlaw, we wear white scrubs to clinicals also. With solid scrubs during the week. I start in 13 days so I'm trying to buy every color of the rainbow lol. (love color hehee) I still need black, yellow, and green to complete my rainbow.
So, since this is to list what is going on, let me start with my upcoming schedule:
April 4th: Standard First Aid with CPR/AED (9-6p) NINE HOURS!
April 6th: Health Fair (School provides immunization, drug test, and health assessment)
April 9th: Orientation 5-7:45p
April 14th: 1st Day of School! 5:30 - 10:30p
Hey and congrats to everyone!! I am new here, I just submitted my application to the LPN program so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get accepted!! I just have one question, what made you decide to do LPN and not RN? Although I have applied for the LPN program and I am still wondering if I should try the RN program. :wink2:
I decided to become a LPN because I couldn't start at any of the Nursing Schools in my area until next Spring. By then I will be almost done the LPN program. Also, it's not as competitive around here to go for the LPN to RN bridge program, which I plan on doing as soon as I'm finished getting my LPN. Plus, I will have the option to work as an LPN while in school for my RN (maybe even have my work pay for me to get my RN).
You can do it Jlebnz!!! I'm almost done getting all my stuff, I plan on having everything ready by Monday so I can have 2 days to relax before I start on Wednesday...ahh so scared!
Oh and girls...about the white underwear, I read on one of these threads it's better to wear nude underwear under white scrubs.
Hi Jlebnz!
Cool! Tell us a little about your program and why you chose LPN if you don't mind..
You start a day before me so I will be looking for your updates!
My reason:
Same o' Same o' - I need to work.
My husband lost his job (he's a builder). He is looking for side jobs and homes to build, but its hard right now with 'null' lending for new construction. He has one build/job lined up, but we need the steady income/insurance. So... I took all the nursing pre-req's and did well, so I will have them ready to bridge Immediately after Aug 2010 graduation..but hopefull With a job as an LPN.
okay, so my biggest challenge since learning about my may 4th start date seems to be reminding myself that i am still a cnt. i want to take a med cart and just fly down the halls with it. i am going to need to learn to contain myself. i see other techs taking time to study as well, so at least i am not alone. how is anyone else handling their present jobs or their feelings towards it?

keria: congrats on your start date!
[color=#00b050]coadestone: hooray for may
[color=#4f81bd]bcskittlez: the nurses wear white where i work. unfortunately, they have to wear the scrubs that the admin states and they are rather see through. i’m staring at bras and panties all day. i see myself investing in camisoles and pant liners in my future. lol
[color=#5f497a]jpa82: currently, i am a cna/cnt. i chose lpn, because my town has a two year wait to get into a rn program. i am seriously ready to move forward in my career. i figure that i can take the one year lpn program and then bridge over to rn and that means no time wasted for me. not to mention, the benefits of the extra nursing experience.
dstynurse09: wow! the call! i would love to have the call! i love it! we start the same day. congrats!
[color=#948a54]lesliemadren: tell me about it. i’m glad that it is not just me. lol
[color=gray]rch85: thanks for the tip about the nude underwear, cause the white ones just ain’t working.
