  1. 1. if you meant to type mg then... (d)order: 25mg (h)supply: 20mg/tsp d/h x q= x 25mg/20mg x 1tsp = x 1.25 x 1tsp = x 1.25 tsp = x 1 and 1/4 tsp = x give: 1 and 1/4 tsp 2. gr 1=60mg gr 3/4=45mg (d)order: gr 3/4 (45mg) (h)supply: 50mg tab(q) d/h x q= x 45mg/50mg x 1tab = x 0.9 x 1tab = x 0.9 tab(s) = x 0.9 is almost 1... 1 tab = x give: 1 tab that's what i came up with, someone can double check.
  2. March 2010!!! I haven't posted in a while, but all is well. I am in my 2nd to last quarter and it is going by faster than I thought. There is much more work than the last 2 quarters, but it's more of what we've been doing (careplans, medication days, drug cards, etc.). Although the load is HEAVIER it's not as stressful b/c you know what to expect at this point. The good thing is the tight schedule seems to make the days fly by. :) I am learning I can certainly endure more than I previously thought. Keep pushing all of you and good luck!!!
  3. Congratulations!!!
  4. Hello everyone! I finally have a break! I finished Fundamentals and Drug Cal Monday with a B and an A respectively. I am SO glad to be moving on to the next quarter. We now have about 24 students left (out of 34)...I'm not sure what the exact number is because that was BEFORE finals. I'll see how many come back in a couple of weeks. This first quarter was very challenging for me. Comprehending the material was not an issue, but things like time-management, lack of sleep, etc. were challenging. My body finally adjusted to the schedule so I think next quarter will be a good quarter. I also COULD HAVE studied a little more so that's what my focus is going to be now. This week I caught up on rest... Over the next 2 weeks I plan on taking my son to the movies or on a short vacation (he really deserves it for coping with me not being able to spend as much time with him). I also want to catch up with my friends who think I fell off the face of the earth :roll and get my Med-Surg book early and start reading it. How is everyone else doing?
  5. :roll I just started the program and I am already SICK of the negative comments/opinions. I :heartbeat how everyone in OTHER FIELDS knows what nursing is all about!!! Yeah right! People just think that since RN=degree...that must be the best way to go. I finished EMT school with a 4.0 (straight A's the entire year) and I finished my nursing prereqs with a 4.0. I've been to university and decided I was not going to waste my life waiting to get into an RN program b/c I have a child who depends on me and I need to work NOW. University, colleges, tech schools...been there, done that...and my opinion of it all is...anyone can get a degree. Nursing school is a totally different ballgame. Most of the people who make these comments about LPNs, have degrees, but still do not have their dream job.
  6. Keep up the good work! I understand the rationale behind instructors saying "relax, you don't need an A...blah blah blah!", but I am like you. I want to make sure I am NCLEX ready...not trying to cram at the last minute and "get" critical thinking. In addition, getting As is a personal goal. I compete against myself to challenge and better myself. Obviously you have found what works for YOU so keep doing what you're doing! I wish you the best!
  7. Great advice...Thanks!
  8. I haven't posted much since I started (April 1st) and I know y'all understand. I'm doing good, so far I've had 2 drug cal tests and 2 fundamentals tests. I have an A in both classes right now. We started out with 34 students and are down to 30 already (in a matter of 2 1/2 weeks). Basically we have a fundamentals and drug cal test every week, along with a skill check-off. I am seriously lacking sleep and I'm bothered by that because I know I will be getting LESS sleep as time goes on. I am just thankful that I was selected and taking it day by day. :)
  9. NursingLadyQuinn, Thank you for the information... You seem to being doing well and I'm glad to hear that. I wish you the best!!!
  10. I am typing up my abbreviations now... and OMG this helped sooooooo much! Thank you!
  11. Congratulations saskenn!!! I wish you the best!
  12. You can get childcare assistance through DFACS...it's for parents in school and/or working, but they usually assist working parents first. You can put your name on the waiting list though. If you are going to attend a college that has an Early Childhood Development/Education major, check to see if they have a daycare on campus. They usually offer childcare to children of students (ages 3-5). I don't know the ins and outs of each so contact each entity for more information. Hope that helps! :)
  13. If you can afford daycare then do it as soon as possible...that way you can finish sooner and enjoy your career and your family. I don't fully know your situation, that's just my opinion. :) BTW, my son is 4 and is in pre-k, but with the hectic schedule I still have to pay for before & after school care plus extra $ for a drop-off/pick-up service to get him to daycare...b/c the daycare is not open early enough for me to drop him off and make it to clinical on time. If you start this fall you will be done by fall 2010, right? Congrats on your decision!
