LPN tuition
I went to a community college for LVN program. I didn't have to pay anything because I got financial aid, but the whole program was less than$5,000, and I got better education and clinical sites then the private schools.

Some Advice about your future..
That is exactly what I am saying! My former classmates who were CNA's at their jobs, now work as LVN's at their jobs. And the one's who didn't have a job as a CNA at a facility, are struggling to find a job as an LVN.

Contaminated Scrubs..do you wear scrubs to the stores
Let's face it, there are GERMS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! No matter what we do, we cannot get rid of them. I like the one point someone made about family members who visit their loved ones who have droplet or contact precautions..most of those patients have MRSA. Yes, they go back home, or to the store, or even out to a restaurant after visiting a loved one. At my facility, we were PPE with all patients, even when they are not in "isolation". So when you think about it, when I take off that gown, my scrubs are nice and clean.

Some Advice about your future..
No..I am saying for LPN/LVN students who have their CNA certificate, to look for a job as CNA at a facitility where they hire LVN's a couple of months before graduating. That way your chances of getting hired at that facility are much better then having to search for a LVN/LPN as a new grad.

Some Advice about your future..
If the year of clinicals was counted towards experience, most new graduates wouldnt' get turned down for jobs. Clinicals don't really count with most places.

Some Advice about your future..
I graduated and LVN program in December of 2008. All throughout the program, I worked full time as a CNA, and then in October of 2008, I got layed off due to "budget cuts"(I was working at a research center). Anyhow, while I was unemployed, I looked for CNA jobs at hospitals that hired LVN's. The reason I did this was because it is much easier to transition into an LVN position from CNA at a hospital, opposed to just getting ur license and looking for jobs who say, "one year of experience required". Many new LVN's find it very hard to find a job right after getting their license. Anyhow, after 4 months of looking, I landed a job at an acute care/long term care(med/surg) hospital as a CNA. I took my boards on March 19th, just recently passed, told my DON and asked her if there was an LVN position open. Guess what she said? "We will create a position for you!" So my advice to all of you LVN/LPN students, find a job as a CNA at a place where they hire LVN's. You will have a better chance of getting a job as an LVN/LPN right away, opposed to being rejected by all of these places who want nurses with at least a years experience.

I called the boards today also, and they said my results were mailed out yesterday. I took my test on the 19th of March, so we will see!

Anyone else waiting for results in CA?
So if they are still working on 18th results, how are they going to be able to mail out the results from the 23rd this week? Seem's like a stretch to me.

ATI test
In my LVN program, we had to take the ATI test just to see how we would do. Our nursing director said that if we got 75% or lower, she would hold off on sending our applications until we showed proof that we signed up for a refresher course. Well, she did not really follow through with what she said. She ended up sending everyones application regardless if they scored 75% or lower.
