Thanks RN hopeful! I'm going to need it!!

A while back I went online to schedule it also. It only gave me dates that were within the same month, so I said no way! I had plenty of time so I waited to try to schedule it again. I had called them and they told me to wait until I was actually ready to TAKE the test. Now I'm just wondering how late is too late? I guess I'll try and call someone @ LSU tomorrow just to be certain. The Prometric website shows available dates throughout the months of July and August (deadline for appl. being Aug.15). There's also an admissions assessment/admissions assessment with critical thinking option?? The last thing I want to do is mess this up and not be able to get my application in before the deadline so I'll have to check. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Sam. I'm also applying for the Spring '10 semester :). I was just online about to schedule the Hesi and I noticed that it states that results will be made available within 21 business days?? I was hoping to take the exam as close to the application deadine as possible since I am overwhelmed with this summer semester. I was hoping to take it Aug. 5th. Do you know if that's way too late to take the exam? Back to your question...I talked to someone in my chem. lab that just took the Hesi and she told me that she spent so much time studying for the physics part and there wasn't even one question on physics. Don't hold me to that (since I have not taken the test), but definitely find out for sure before spending time on that section of the test. My strategy for the exam is using the book for the basics (vocab, math, etc.) and looking elsewhere for chem. and AP. Hope that helps. Best of luck with your exam! I'm just really curious as to what the proper action would be to this situation. I just left the coffee shop and a woman came in unable to breathe and sweating heavily. She needed a glass if cold water. My first thought was that she was overheated. We asked her if we could call the paramedics and she said no, that she knew what was wrong. I am just a pre-nursing student and felt helpless that I could not do more for the woman. She ended up feeling better rather quickly and explained that when she does not drink before eating her uvula swells to the point that she cannot breathe. She was an obese woman and she said that she had never seen the doctor for her condition. I really thought the woman was going to just fall to the floor. Can anyone please tell me what the proper actions to thus situation would be. Thanks so much.

Don't give up. Keep researching all your possibilities. I'm 34 and have been working on prerequisites since 08 for the RN program that I am about to apply to. I've waited until I've just about completed all the prerequisites (plus some) because I'm afraid to get rejected. It was much harder than I ever imagined, and I'm lucky that my son is 13 and I can devote a lot of time to school with only a small part time job. I don't know anything about your area, but are there any community colleges that offer any online classes, at least to start off? Look into programs that may be a future possibility and consider their prerequisites (English, math, etc). At least it would be a start. Good luck!

Hi :). I was wondering the same thing. I've scheduled it for the fall semester, but I'm not sure if I should or not. It doesn't look like I will make it into the BSN program just yet, so I may have to apply to the ASN program first. I plan on taking both my AP 1&2 labs over in the fall. I got C's in both labs. but B's in lecture. Putting chemistry ,and the lab that goes with it may not be a good idea. Anyway, I've taken AP 1&2 and micro. I encountered a bit of chemistry toward the end of AP2 with the urinary and acid-base stuff. Like you, I don't have a chemistry background and high school was a loooong time ago. I had dropped my chemistry this past spring because it scared me half to death and I took it online (not a good idea). But it would have come in handy toward the end of AP2, that's when chemistry finally became interesting to me. I would take it as long as you don't have too many other sciences at the same time. It would help to brush up on basics though. Maybe review some chemistry books @ the library. It seemed like it was already "assumed" that I had prior knowledge (which I didn't). Good luck to you!

Fundamentals Success by Patricia M. Nugent and Barbara A. Vitale. I found it a little strange to have to answer questions about things that I haven't learned yet (still doing pre-req.s) but it really makes you think. What kind of critical thinking questions were on the Hesi A2?

I haven't taken the Hesi A2 yet but I've heard that the Fundamentals Success book was helpful for the critical thinking part. I bought the book, pretty much full of questions on different topics. It was a recommedned but not required book for first semester nursing courses.

Thank you for posting this! I have exactly the same questions! Don't get me wrong, my main concern is patient care, but also note that after devoting four years of my life (and I have no life!), and after accumulating thousands of dollars in debt, what am I getting myself into? This doesn't seem like the kind of thing that can just get passed overnight (like the Stimulus Bill, what a joke), the repercussions concerning actual patient care are frightening to think about. It seems as though they are just selling an ideal world, not thinking about the reality of it. How will the doctors be reimbursed? They need to pay bills too. Are the people who actually work going to have to pay more taxes to pay for this? When they say that they are going to cut spending in other ways, that just has regulation, regulation written all over it. Please don't get mad, I'm not just speaking conservatively:argue:, I just want to get some realistic answers myself.
