.....and is it the specialty you wanted to go to?
Just got hired for an ICU position in a Level I teaching hospital. It's also a New Grad Residency program. It's for nights, 7p-7a. Also, I was offered weekend Alt, which is only Saturday and Sunday 7p-7a, and still get paid for an extra day. I can't have 5 days off in a row with nothing to do. My son is getting older, and he don't want to "hang out" with me anymore, so I opted for the fulltime nights, 3 12's a week. I start in August.
I also found out I passed NCLEX! YAAAY!
I went on an interview and got job offered the same day. God is good!
The OR baby!!! Surgery was my 1st and only choice, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Perioperative nursing is its' own little community. I am with a preceptor for 9-12 months (lots of services to learn ENT, Cardiac, Ortho/Neuro, General). On top of learning the circulatoring role I also get to scrub in for 6-8 weeks to get a little experience in scrubing as well as the possibility of becoming a RNFA (R N First Assist). I'm currently training on the days 645-1515 shift, but will be working the 1000-1830 shift. At my hospital, the nurses don't work alot on weekends because there is a group of RNs that only work the weekends. The call isn't so bad. When you are on call, you get off of your regular shift the week of your call (so you just are on call only). Plus call starts at 1800, so you just have to be available for call between 1800-645.............Sweet!!!:hpygrp:
I was hired on a telemetry floor at a large teaching hospital. I'm looking forward to starting in August, but I'm also a bit nervous/excited. I don't have an actual shift yet - it was just listed as "rotating" and it will be worked out as I get into orientation/training on the floor. I'm hoping to land in some sort of normal schedule, but basically I'm also just happy to have a job!
I graduated in May and start an OR residency in August. I absolutely wanted to be an OR nurse and do a residency or I was going right back to school. I am thrilled and can't wait to start--it is a level ll trauma hospital. I will eventually go back to school. The orientation is days but I can't wait to get established and get on nights.......w/e nights would be PERFECT!
I graduate August 6. I took a job at a LTC facility for pediatrics. Many vent patients and a whole variety of other problems. This was the only job I applied for. I fell in love with the kids after a clinical rotation through the facility. I will be working 12 hrs.... day shift. Can't wait to get started!
